@qvinto: no worries. Well for example I have had multiple's of several GM lenses (135, 24, 50, 35) and each one performed slightly differently. Comparing this in Leica land, where I've had multiple 35 sum micron & 50 summilux's (in the SL range) and they have been absolutely identical - literally can't tell them apart.
The leica lenses are def not better in AF speed, but the IQ is pretty much perfect. Absolutely no diff wide open to stopped down, edge to edge of frame. Perfect bokeh, wonderful colours & contrast regardless of aperture used.
In saying this I'm not saying the lenses from sony are bad. But to answer your question I do believe the leica lenses are better - as they should be. I'm not sure I'd use the word significantly but it is there. The summicron line of f2 SL lenses are really amazing. The resolution on them along with the other qualities I mentioned is really A+. If you watch Peter Karbe's videos detailing the engineering of the SL system it's quite interesting.
Here's another example for you as well - the 50SL 1.4 is easily the best 50 I've ever used. The IQ/bokeh on it is just absurd, honestly I could shoot an entire wedding on it. I've very much a 50 guy and have owned a lot of 50's (Canon 50 1.2, Sony 50 1.4 and 1.2), various voightlander 50's, and had a Otus 55 for a few weeks. This 50 is the holy as far as I am concerned. I actually found the sony 50 1.2 a bit clinical. The 50 1.4 quite good (though very prone to sample variation). The Canon 50 1.2 was a bit iffy focus wise. The Leica is pretty much perfect. Shame it cost 7k odd!
