Wine Enthusiast review:
This South Aussie Cab delivers in a big way. It opens with bright, lucid aromas of red berry, baking spice, tree bark and flowers.
The tannins are well-integrated, soft yet present, gently tugging on the fruit, which gets a lift from the crunchy acidity.
It’s a modern, medium-weight Aussie Cab that should be a weeknight staple.

  • Thanks Richard! Grabbed another case cheers

    • Cheers Ben! Enjoy. Have a great weekend. Richard :-)

  • Hi Richard, what is the cellaring potential for this wine?

    • Hi Bodgy. It is more of a drink now style but around 3-5 years. Cheers! Richard

      • Thanks Richard

        • Have just ordered a case. I don't think it will be difficult to implement the "drink now" rather than cellaring and forgetting!

          • +1

@Bodgy: hahaha. Thanks mate. Costco in the US certainly think it's drink now too! They've got around 150,000 bottles of it in their stores through the Midwest, Texas, Northern and Southern California. Enjoy! RD :-)

  • Thanks Richard -our stocks were running low.

    • Fortuitous for us both! Enjoy RD :-)

  • Thanks Richard, bought 12 bottles.
    Why are they on sale?

    • Most likely cancelled orders from US ( Covid b/s rules & mandates economic dowturn ) and hence l

abelling problems for other markets. Could be other factors involved, but bulk storing wine is also expensive.

      • +1

        @pricematch @ozhunter
No cancellation of any order. Quite the opposite.

It’s one reason we were finalists in the Austrade Exporter of the Year 2019 & 2020 as well as the SA Premier’s Regional Export Company of the Year 2020.

The answer is a simple one, I’m afraid. We always run a little extra off on export orders to keep the www.wineshedsale.com.au going.

        Premium wines at wholesale prices.

        :-)

    • Thanks for the order! Explanation below. Have a great weekend. RD :-)

  • Thanks - ordered 12 bottles. Shipping time to Perth will be interesting.

    • +1

Thanks! Shipping to WA at the moment is with Australia Post. Seemingly the current best solution. Cheers! RD

      • cheers. arrived this morning.

        • Amen! Cheers! RD :-)

  • Ordered just now, previously had the mixed dozen which was good to try the different varieties, but no duds.

    • Kind words. Thanks. :-)

  • Always love a Bec Hardy bargain! Thanks Richard.

    • Our pleasure. Enjoy and thank you. Richard :-)

  • Hi Richard

Quality wise would this be slightly below the Pertaringa Understudy that retails for $25?

    • For sure. Understudy from McLaren Vale, better fruit, better/more oak hence price differential.

But at $8ish per bottle and a Top 100 in one of the most prestigious lists in the US worth a punt? :-)

  • Always looking to try a new cab sav and at this price point you can’t really go wrong. Case ordered! Cheers Richard!

    • A pleasure. Thanks for the order. Hope you enjoy! Cheers! Richard

  • Can’t Resist at around $8 bottle delivered. What da? Done!!

    • Good wines, delivered inexpensively- it’s what we do. Enjoy! RD :-)

  • Are these wines made from "generic" South Eastern Australia grapes?

    • Hi Punkboy.
      No.
SEA is a broad generic region covering all regions virtually with the exception of WA.
SA is South Australia. SA produces 51% of all Australian wine. 80% of all premium wine comes from SA.
Frankly, we don’t do generic wine, we leave to the big players. Equally frankly, mass produced, SEA factory wines don’t pull a Top 100 listing in a list of this caliber.
Hope that helps cheers RD :-)

      • Thanks however I couldn't see which SA wine region these grapes were from so I figured they weren't from Mc Vale, Barossa, Clare or Coonawarra. 150K+ bottles is a fair production quantity.

Anyway, just wanted to know where the grapes were grown. Cheers

        • Easy. Fruit sourced from Currency Creek. Langhorne Creek and the Riverland.
Difficult to hit those entry level price points with fruit from regions like McLaren Vale, Barossa etc.
          Cheers RD :-)

  • One case purchased. Have enjoyed their offerings in the past, great to see awards being doled out as well. My parents live in Texas, so if this is a winner, I'll recommend they get to Costco and get a few bottles.

    • Thanks for that. Cheers! RD :-)

  • Have been a happy customer of this wine maker for some time.Buy with confidence.

    • Thanks @dynaflow. Glad you’re enjoying. Cheers! Richard

  • Well this is now the third case of this specific wine I've bought in the last 18 months. (Better being cellared by the professionals than sitting in my QLD garage)

Fantastic drop but I think I gave away a few bottles for Christmas presents, so this case is for us instead!

    • Glad you're enjoying! Always lovely to hear. Cheers! Richard
