  • Like paintings? I saw one 700mm wide box sold by this boxes supplier big red packaging in seven hills. alternatively you can always make your own boxes to any size you want from existing boxes.

  • Are you the artist or purchasing the artwork to send o/s?

  • Yes paintings,
    I am the artist
Ive never thought of making my own… Ill take a look at Big Red

If your paintings are framed then it will be more expensive to post o/s. Are your paintings able to be rolled in a cylinder for postage and then framed by the recipients?

  • They use big wooden crates in the movies.

  • They are on mounted canvas. It’s not super heavy.

    • It's not the weight, but to make sure it does not get damaged by the courier during shipping.

  • The largest one is 120 x 85cm

    • I'm sorry to break it up to you - if you keep the longest side, it's above AusPost maximum allowed length of 105cm https://www.ausff.com.au/australian-post-parcel-limitations/ - you may then need to ask third party carrier which is then usually more expensive.

      • Yeah I wasn’t going to use Australia post, They suck. I wasn’t too worried about shipping cost, it’s for a gift. But I cannot find packaging boxes.

Ikea generally have a lot of returned mailing boxes, it's free to get it in their parking lot. Ikea in particular as they may be the only one that has large cardboards.

Here are few pointers on how to resize boxes: Resize down a box: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mEdmCGrV1Kg, Resize box to a longer side https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uh49T4-Y9Ww. The videos won't make exactly the size you want but you get ideas on how to do things with thos mailing boxes.

My personal ways (sorry I have no video yet) is to fold one large cardboard to wrap around the 4 main sides of the items - you need to make crease with knife before folding, then put two pieces cardboards to close the top and bottom.

  • Boxes from your local bike shop? These tend to be quite heavy duty, but can be cut down to what ever size you need.
