      Your trade-in credit estimate is

$0 here. They don't even have my phone on there lol

Trade in Credit = Trade in value + Trade in Bonus

  • Can I do this and not return the phone?

  • $510 (value) + $600 (bonus) for me with an unopened S21 256gb mobile, so have to open to use there trade-in app, I guess have to open to make sure there is a phone in the box lolz

Edit: Has Samsung posted any deals with trade-ins yet on there web site?

    • You might be better off trying to find an old S10 under $300 and selling the s21 privately that way you still get the $600 bonus plus whatever you can sell the s21 for (I'm not up with the latest prices but I think you could do better than $510)

      • This will be my second S21 256gb mobile as purchased 2x from Telstras first Telstra day deal and its hard to sell an S21 on eBay for a good price though I've seen some like mine sell for $1000 on eBay but my first one sold for $780 ish so it's the luck of the draw, probably better trading it for $1110 with Vodafone but on a plan or JB trade-in for $960 I think outright for the S22

Edit: It's really $510 trade-in credit plus $600 voucher bonus so total $1110 for a comparison (not $510 only) compared to what eBay might get me, I doubt it sell on eBay for $1110

But your idea did cross my mind though easier in one transaction to go with Vodafone instead of extra effort messing with eBay,. well eBay also charges 13.4% commission lolz

  • Telstra offering free Galaxy Tab A8 + normal samsung gift pack + 12 months disney plus + trade in upto $1000.

    Trade in estimates - iPhone 12 pro max 512gb gets you $975. S21 Ultra 256gb $700

    • which one is better? Telstra or Optus offer?
Optus giving Galaxy watch 4 :/

    • disney plus + I think you need to go on one of their plans

  • Do we know if Australia is getting the Snapdragon chips yet?

    • Yes, Snapdragon chip for All Aussie devices, including phone S22 and also Tab S8

      • Awesome! I've been going back and forth for a while about tab s7+ or iPad but I prefer Android. If I can get a decent price for the s8+ I think I'll be getting one. And if I can pay out the 12 month vodaphone deal I might get an s22+ also. I'm not that excited about the ultra although having 12gb ram does buy some security that it will keep working a long time. Hmmmm I was gonna keep my S10+ another year but at under $800 for a Snapdragon s22+ 256gb I'm very tempted.

      • Where did you find this info….I was about to buy one in the US and found your comment….tried googling but found nothing solid to confirm this…..

      • According to Telstra's page for S22, it's NOT Snapdragon for the s22 ultra: https://www.telstra.com.au/mobile-phones/mobiles-on-a-plan/s…

  • Only $140 for my S10+ but if they round it up to $900 total it seems tempting only problem being the shitty vodaphone network. Does anyone know if they have any costs associated with paying the device out early? Or do you lose the bonus $s?

    • You lose, you have to stay connected for 12-36 months

      • Yeah I just found the terms :'(
I wonder what would happen if you tried to cancel the contract on their network guarantee after a few weeks though? I haven't tried Vodafone in a few years and the main issue is data indoors (basically it's shiite compared to Telstra/Boost/Belong & even Optus (also shiite but not as bad and mostly during peak times)) I might get lucky and find their indoor 4g is good enough for me but if it isn't???
I'd assume unless they are capable of returning my old phone they'd have to honour the trade-in and cancel as per the network guarantee wouldn't they?
        Wishful thinking probably!

        • I'm on Boost right now, indoor is terrible here but we use Telstra wifi for our calls indoors.

    • I think Vodafone same now with Telstra and Optus with no contracts (I think actually they started it first), if you leave early you'd just have to pay outright the rest of the mobile repayments left,.. anyone concur? (did I spell it right lol)

  • Just trade-in an eligible phone in Good Working Order and stay connected to an Eligible Plan over 36 months.

Do I have to pay EEF if I cancel the plan?

Just found: No EEF (Early Exit Fee) but if you cancel your Vodafone Infinite Plan, 100% of any remaining MPP installments will be applied to your next bill.

    • If MPP just means the remaining payments then that's awesome but I think they pro-rata the $600 over your contract period (12,24 or 36 months) and if you take up the s10 offer which rounds it up to $300 (I was offered $140) it's possible even that $160 is treated the same. There's no way I'd sell my S10+ for $140, even at $300 id probably keep it as my backup phone and ditch the old Huawei currently in that role.
Works out to be only $744 for me if I can get the full $900 trade in off an s22+ 256gb model. lol
I can't remember the exact deal but that's about what I paid for my S10+ with discounts, cashback ECT ECT back in April '19

  • Is this the best S22 deal so far?

    • Depends on your situation Jbhifi offer outright (I think) but only $450 bonus trade-in voucher compared to Vodafone $600 voucher but your forced to jump on a Vodafone plan with their S22 deals

      Jb deal posted on Ozbargain
      https://ozb.me/o/2rW0?u=tw

      • Or EDU store

        • +1

But reading from above posts there is no cancellation fees so not a contract and can cancel early just got to pay out the remaining mobile installments

  • What happens if I don't send my phone in? I can't find anything about it on the website. I don't mind joining a plan for the $600 off but wanna know what happens with the bonus trade in

    • I couldn't find any detailed info about that either. If you are happy with Vodafone then it seems like the S10/S10+ guaranteed $300 + $600 bonus is pretty good. Just sign up for 12 months though I reckon otherwise you are kinda trapped with all the "bonus" credit hanging over your head. But then again if you want to minimise your monthly payment you might prefer 36 months???
As I said in an earlier post it's probably worth finding an S10 online so you can take advantage of this deal esp if you have a phone that's worth more than $300.
But Vodafone??? I mean if you are in a good coverage area I guess they're fine but they used to be so bad I'm not sure I can bring myself to go back lol

    • All trade-in deals by Asurion requires their app which does a credit card verification charge. If you don't send in your trade-in phone by a certain date they will charge your credit card the trade-in value deducted previously (though sometimes that itself is a good deal, since you can still sell your old phone)

      • Just wondering saves me checking each deal from different stores and telco cariers is Asurion used elsewhere you might know, Telstra, Optus, Jbhifi and Samsung as few examples, just wondering cheers👍

        • JB uses SquareTradeUp, Telstra uses Kingfisher and Optus uses Alegre.

Only Samsung and Vodafone I know of use Asurion and I think they also charge (at least for Samsung direct trade-ins) a $60 admin fee on top of the device value if you dont mail the device to them.

          • @stigsphilocousin: And I think (but I'll double check) jb square trade-up all you need to provide is the imei number without installing the trade-up app, why I mention this some people like me have a new sealed phone to trade-in, s21 256gb for me as rather not open it as yet, might devalue

And thanks for the info too👍

    • I'm pretty sure they'll just charge you as normal.
So let's say you end up with $900 of credit. That will be divided up across x months.
So your bill will be plan fee + phone fee minus monthly trade credit.

So if you don't trade in you're still paying plan and phone

I tried for five hours to do the Vodafone S22 thing, I spent 4h57m on and off the phone to thirty different people in India who had no idea what they were doing before eventually telling them I'd had enough of their rubbish and wasn't interested. Nothing wrong on my end, they had another account with the same name as me and wanted me to explain it even though the other person was obviously not me.

    • Ok I haven't had the pleasure yet of having to deal with Vodafone but in comparison with Telstra and Optus I have plans with,. so far Telstra is the worst over Optus, Telstra also uses an Indian call centre, my worst hate with Telstra is there online chat, you could wait hours for a reply and some chat agents have no idea, literally

Edit: but this deal isn't a bad deal so must try once, even though there is a high chance it will be an agony experience, good effort on your part though hanging out for over 5 hours of your life you'll never get back 😁

Edit again: I think the Jbhifi deal is better for me even though they only offer $450 trade-in voucher ($150 less over Vodafones $600 voucher) this would be great if your already with Vodafone with great coverage or 5G coverage or happy to transfers your existing high plan $40 or higher over to Vodafone, my case though I'll miss Optus's 5G great coverage around my area in North West Melbourne

      Jbhifi trade-in deal
      https://ozb.me/o/2rW0?u=tw

  • As someone who was on Telstra and now how services on both Voda and Optus, I can tell you this much…..

Telstra CS still the best, especially when you have access to stores. They can get almost everything fix. Can't say the same about their network, granted there are areas that you can only get signal from telstra but in many metro areas they just sucks. Yes their 5G is fast but just outdoor.

Optus in my opinion is the worse in CS when you consider they now charge a prenium for their services. That was the reason why I now have a services with Voda. Don't count on their store to fix anything for you. Optus store are only there to take your money and that's it. They do have the fastest 5G in my experience, again only when you are outdoor. Having said that their 4G is also quite fast

Vodafone CS is not great and I can tell you their 5G is ABSOLUTELY GARBAGE. However their 4G is quite stable and usable. You do get more blind spots with Voda when Optus is blasting away in the same spot.

As for the deal, correct that it depends on you situation. I am considering it because I pay around $600 for my S21 and they are trading it for just over $500 plus bonus and 5% off on the second line. Put this on a 12 months $40 plan I will be paying about $58 a month and get the benefit of data pooling. The deciding factor is Vodafone 4G is usable in most places I go plus Optus just really piss me off big time!!

  • If you mean CS as in online chat services, I find Telstra is a lot worse then Optus, Optus they chat back to you asap as a normal conversation with Telstra you could wait forever sometimes and some agents have no idea what there talking about on some of their plans/services, and in Melbourne Optus 5G is the fastest, yupz Optus prices have lately jumped though Telstra is usually more expensive except when both have great deals on plans, devices etc, well that's my experience with both of them

Edit: And Vodafone I haven't as yet had the pleasure of dealing with yet lolz

    • That's is the beauty of Telstra, you don't need to do chat. Just walk into a telstra store and they can fix it on the spot for you… well 90% of it. Last two issue they can't fix was port in credit with JB plan and the click frenzy credit glich two years ago.

But reading from above posts for this Vodafone deal there is actually no cancellation fees so not a contract and can cancel early or anytime, just got to pay out the remaining S22 mobile installments

So if you cancel say within one month technically the $600 bonus trade-in voucher in theory is actually $560 on paper (on the $40 plan), I think this might beat the other deals actually?

    Anyone's opinion on this?

Edit; yupz just spoke Vodafone, it's not a contract can neg on the plan anytime (might test out there unlimited data plan, life for $65), I'm guessing would have to within the first month to be only one month, so for me $600 - $65 = $535:bonus trade-in on voucher and I also asked about not handing in my my trade-in if I change my mind later so I'll neg on my S21 256gb which was valued as $510 trade-in credit

Or everyone knows this and I'm again yapping on for nothing lolz isn't this the trade-in deal so far? I though Jbhifi was But this is a little better

    • Best trade-in deal so far,. I meant👍😁

  • +1

the $600 trade in bonus not an one off discount, but a rebate every month during the 12/24/36 months plan, plan cancelled, no rebate

    • Really fk they never mentioned that too me over the phone (and they keep calling me to do thus deal), thankyou certainly for posting, I better stop posting this everywhere this is the best deal out, think OP should mention this well can't really call it a voucher, voucher assuming it's instant

By chance do you have a web link,. t&cs maybe?,. maybe even though this is a monthly discount it could go towards the phone not plan and of you pay out phone the full amount of voucher is discounted even after dropping out if plan, anyway I will ask them over the phone tomorrow

    • I second that it's a rebate every month unlike other deals which gets deducted immediately from the phone value .

  • I can't seem to install the trade in app on my Galaxy S10e. Bummer.

    • Ok didn't realise there was a trade-in app online purchase, another alternative which I'll be doing either way, is too do it over the phone with Vodafone (spoke to them but haven't gone through the process yet, though with my millions of questions they never stated I needed to use a trade-in app, either way one could neg in trade-in and not bother with app just get everything processed over the phone, they'll also give you trade-in value of your phone as they did for me )

    • What seems to be the issue? Did you buy an international model from overseas?

  • So this seems like the best option if you have an S10 lying around right.

  • +1

Ok for conversations I had above here, well found the t&c's about this, so if you neg out of any month to month plans, (12, 24 or 36 months plan applied for) you will loose out on the $600 bonus trade-in voucher and looks like also your mobile trade-in credit, which is a bummer

will receive $600 Bonus Credit (plus any trade-up credit) if they: (i) sign up or upgrade, and stay connected to a selected plan over 12, 24 or 36 months (‘Eligible Plan’); and (ii) trade-in their Eligible Device by 31/03/2022.

And confirmed above with Vodafone chat, we'll now this is the worst S22 trade-in deal unless one is planning to stay with Vodafone either on a 12, 24 or 36 month plan, nice if OP adds this in description 👍

How so? You expect a brand new phone before its launch will sell at half price? Of course there is a catch……

TBH if you "actually" border to look at the maths, it is quite a good deal. at least for those who is not so stubborn that they need an NBN at home. I had mention so many time in this forum. You really don't need NBN unless you stream in 4K, and once you used a big data plan, you just can't get away with the convivence of no need to look for hotspots…

Lets say you go on the $50 plan and the basic S22 128g, trade in a mid range handset that gets you $300 credit. you pay $154 a month - $75 credit/ month and save another $79 on NBN. You are basically paying nothing for a brand new top of the line phone with 200G data that follows your everywhere and a 10mbs shape. Tell me that is a bad deal?

Of course always test your area if Vodafone has good signal. It can be poor in certain area and this isn't such a good idea.

In fact using that same calculation, you can get the phone outright from Samsung and go on the Optus $65 deal. Assume on the same $300 credit plus the $350 bonus, you end up paying for $36 over 12 months. that give you 500G and you are not lock into a contract. The catch? You have to deal with Optus which IMO is absolute POS!!

      • In 2020 JB's Telstra plan bundles still allowed free (if not billed for ETC), or half-price (billed ETC) flagship phones upon release. They didn't charge the device cost paid in JB's gift cards to achieve the upfront discount they offered.

For an S20 FE 5G I paid ETC and it worked out to $600 when I sold the bundled Buds Live. Loophole patched now.

        • You said it yourself, loophole….. "tragedy of common" largely contribute by this website.

          • -1

@syswong: Yes I did. I'm not the person you were responding to though, so I never suggested the loophole should still exist.

    • Can you link those T&Cs? I want to have a scroll for myself :)

  • Hi8uy7

  • Anyone traded in their s10 for the $300+$600 value yet? I called Vodafone and some people aren't even aware of the $300 round up and say that it's not a round-up but a maximum value?

    • I traded today but the lady said we'd see it on the bill but not the confirmation.
