Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3i 14" HD Laptop (256GB) [Intel i5] $639 + Delivery ($0 C&C/ in-Store) @ JB Hi-Fi

Anyone looking for a budget laptop this seems like a great deal. This looks like a price error to me as there are 2 different deals for the same laptop. One is coming upto $639 and other is $799 after 20% discount. My guess is if they have messed up between i3 and i5.

I have checked this is available at TGG for $999 (https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/lenovo-ideapad-slim-3i-14-inc…) and $799 (https://www.binglee.com.au/products/lenovo-81wa00e0au-ideapa…) at bing lee.

The only difference I could spot is $799 one has Windows 11 preloaded whereas $639 has Windows 10 Home. Please correct me if I have missed any other major difference between the two.

While some won't mind, HD resolution should be discontinued

Think HD screen and it's a TN screen is a bit of a turnoff at this price …..

For 1366 X 768 the price is right

    • If it was a Chromebook and half the price… I'm not even sure that's still the "right" price for a 768p TN panel equipped lappy :-(

    • OK so neg means should be cheaper?

      • Didn't neg you but honestly I'd find it hard to put a price I'd be happy to pay on it. The screen is what you are constantly looking at.

        • 'For 1366 X 768 the price is right'

          if you're blind

          • @tonyjzx: So you mean this laptop not worth $639 ?

I said that because OP said "This looks like a price error to me". I mean because of the HD resolution $639 about the right price not price error.

          • @tonyjzx: we have seen past deals with FHD in this price range ….

Cheap, but not worth even that much. Outdated cpu, very poor screen

Damn so close… but that TN panel. It's hard to use one nowadays when were blessed with IPS and even OLED on our phones.

Selling 14 inch laptops with 1366 x 768 displays should be a crime in 2022. Even worse when it's a TN display.

Hell, when I was selling laptops back in the early 2000s I would refuse to suggest anything less than a full HD screen.

  • Can someone tell me if I can upgrade the ram on this?

    • +1

Interesting you're needing more than 8GB RAM but happy to stare at a 1366*768 14" screen.
That's around 111 PPI, which on a TN screen isn't great.

Why buy a new laptop in 2022 with a screen from 2010?

      • Just changed me screen resolution to 1366x768, YIKES FOREVER.

      • the screen from 2010 matches the phone from 2010 …. it's style of techo retro
