If you missed out on the last time AcePlayer was free here is another multiple format video player for iOS.

Usually $2.99, free for a limited time. Seems decent, has video out support.

  • Which is better Aceplayer or Gplayer?

  • I got both when they were free. I tried GPlayer first and it worked very well for me, so I just stick to it. I remember trying AcePlayer to see if it allows me loading subtitle files with a different name from the video file (GPlayer will automatically load subtitle file only if it has the same name), but AcePlayer didn't do it either. The thing I like the most with GPlayer is it allows me to download video files to it via Wifi, saving the hassle of running the monstrous iTunes. (Probably AcePlayer will do it too)

    • AcePlayer does allow you to download the files as well.

  • Is this better than VLC Player (running a jailbroken iPad) ??

    • OPlayer is the best :)

  • Gplayer works really well, supports all formats that I've managed to throw at it

  • nice find OP

    will download it

  • This doesn't support DLNA streaming does it?

  • Hi Foggy10

You want MediaConnect and FlexPlayer (this is needed to play streamed files) …. it picks up every shared server and media streamer on my network.

Aceplayer is also good for wifi streaming

From my playing with Gplayer, it only works on files downloaded to the pad.

  • Thanks OP. Just downloaded.

  • Is this like every other video player where hardware acceleration is unavailable? Are 1080p mkvs smooth?

  • More the merrier. Where one comes short, the other fulfils.

  • Plays .mkv, so its a +1 for me.

Doesnt play 1080p smooth on my gen 1, but was never expecting it to.

  • does it not support flv format? i can't seem to play flv video. :(

  • so let me get this right, so these video app players let you drag and drop avi etc files and then using the app to play? then nice!

    • via itunes or wifi, yes.

  • i though aceplayer has always been free?

  • pretty good app.

  • Price is back to 2.99.
