[Price Error] Lenovo USB-C 65W AC Adapter (AU) $15 Delivered @ Lenovo

Moved to Forum: Original Link Reason: Price error, not honoured.

My first post!
4.5/ 5 stars and ships in 6-9 days, Not sure how this fares against the Dell charger posted a few days ago but I have ordered two :)
From their page:

Lenovo AC Adapter offers fast and efficient charging. Keep one in the office, one at home, and another in your case for convenient access to power. Just plug it into an available outlet to deliver AC power to compatible Lenovo laptops and recharge its battery. Lenovo AC adapters are compact, energy efficient and backed by a 1-year warranty.

Update: For all those of you feeling bad about their cancelled orders, well my order has been cancelled as well. Guess that's the price one has to pay for OZB fraternity :) Now back to Dell, asking them not to cancel my order that I asked them to cancel after I ordered Lenovo's ;)

Nice, these are normally like 50!

    • Their other 65w charger is $50.60, looks identical apart from the figure 8 plug but unsure what else is different

Thanks OP, just got a new Lenovo a month ago so $15 for a spare charger is a sweet as deal

      • Is that a new model replacing this old one?

  • +6

10% cashback via Shopback sweetens it further

    • +5

Just went back to order again using ShopBack before realising I'm missing out on $1.50 lol. I need a break from this site.

      • +1

Most likely less than $1.50 as it's 10% off after removing GST from the product price.

        • +2

Just got a tracking email from Shopback of the cashback amount being $1.50…Hope it remains as-is🤞

  • Fantastic deal! Thanks

anyone know what USB PD voltages this outputs? and is the AC power cable included?

    • +8

      Output: 5V-2A / 9V-2A / 15V-3A / 20V- 3.25A

      AC cable included.

      • Does it say somewhere the AC cable is included? I can't seem to find it mentioned

        • Same here!

        • +1

I checked the part number with other stores. They all list it as being included. E.g. same charger

I figure they use this image so it can be listed in other regions. Otherwise you'd be making more images with other power adaptors and that takes time.

  • +11

This is the typical Ozbargain "I'm not sure if I need it, but at this price I'll buy 2 anyways". Bought 2

    • +9

I also don't own any Lenovo products, except I guess these 2 new adapters

      • Use it for your phone instead. Nice and bulky :)

        • +20

I'm thinking of giving one away as a Valentine's present

  • thanks OP, picked up one. great price.

  • Looks like an IEC C5 to AU mains cable is needed to get it plugged to a wall right, or is it provided just not displayed in the image?

    • +2

      It will be included

    • agree, its confusing for me

  • Good charger. Use it to charge my phones and laptops

  • Cheers OP ordered x2 free ship to W.A

  • Would it be crazy to buy one of these as a spare power pack for a 5 year old HP spectre x360. I mean USBC is universal right?

    • +5

Its a USB C charger, and its 65W, there is like a million and one uses for it.

      • +3

…. I count one use … charging loll

  • Would this work for my macbook pro?

    • +1

Check the specs for your MacBook Pro. Depends on the MBP model and what you expect the power supply to do.

If all you want is for it to charge the battery while the laptop is off, then I believe yes for all models that accept USB-C PD for charging.

If you want it to charge the battery while the laptop is on and running a heavy compute/GPU load then it might not, again depending on the MBP model. Some MBPs come with a 90W rated power supply because of that.

    • The lenovo usb c charger I got with my lenovo s540 works with the mac fine. I've never used the actual mac charger so I can't compare speeds, but it's quite slow. Doesn't cause any overheating issues though

    • +1

I've got one and use it for my 2019 macbook pro 16". It works fine, unless you're doing some heavy cpu usage where the laptop needs the 90-100W on their official one.

  • Thanks OP

  • Thank you OP. This is a great deal. Ordered.

  • On the same page, at the top, it says "3rd party products: Lenovo does not guarantee compatibility with third-party products". Is this a 3rd party product?

    • +9

Probably means that it might not work with other brands i.e. their charger might not charge a Macbook Pro or a Dell Precision. At least this is what I think.

    • Basically warns potential customers that the charger may not be compatible with other brands, namely Apple.

  • Is it ok to charge a Switch with this? (Don't want to fry it.. and its a bit fussy)

    • This Lenovo 65W Standard AC Adapter (USB Type-C) Power Adapter offers fast, efficient charging at home, in the office, or on the go. This power adapter is compatible with ThinkPad USB-C enabled Notebook and Tablet. Smart Voltage: Its PD technology automatically detects and delivers 5V/2A,9V/2A ,15V/3A or 20V/3.25A Tested and reliable: tested, reliable and backed by a one-year limited warranty

It will be slow to charge but safe can be used.

    • +1

Yeah the Switch when docked uses about 39W and this can do 45W at 15V/3A so it'll charge it fine.

    • +1

No I wouldn't recommend charging the switch with this as it could damage it. Do a quick google and you will find Nintendo have implemented usb c in a non standard way and using this to charge it could damage it.

    • For charging the Switch alone, any USB-C spec charger should be sufficient—better if it supports Power Delivery. However, powering the dock requires more than just PD and it seems Nintendo has a proprietary chip in the dock/adapter to ensure precise voltage as needed.

The reason so many Switches are getting bricked with 3rd party docks/adapters is that the voltage isn't managed properly when docked and it doesn't play nicely with the Switch.

    • This works with a Switch. I charge mine using this exact charger in the morning once i reach the office. Switch is still alive today.

  • Thanks OP, getting for Raspberry Pi 4B, would be overkill but better than getting the lower wattage one for the same price.

    • Raspberry Pi 4B requires 5v/3A, but this one outputs 5V/2A.

      • Damn it.

      • Can you let me know where you saw 5V 2A? My understanding is that Lenovo does proper PD so it would support 5V 3A.

      • Saw it in the description. However, I borrowed my brother's Lenovo USB-C charger. The label says 5V/2A, but the meter shows that it is 5V 3A max.

    • +1

The power supply supports 5V 3A I reckon. HOWEVER, the problem is that the included/embedded cable is e-marked. If you have the early version of 4B, you will have a problem.

The easiest way to test your Pi 4 is to use an Apple USB-C to USB-C cable (OR an USB-C cable that's e-marked). If your Pi 4B cannot charge, then this won't work for you.

It is an overkill for Pi 4 though, even if it is supported (assuming you have a newer revision which doesn't does honour proper PD mode). Earlier model simply just used the 5V rails without actually handling PD.

      • Just checked mine is revision 1.2, so it should work?

        • I still suggest you try it with a USB-C e-marked cable. According to the Web, it should with rev 1.2. For Pi 4, I just use the official charger. I think I bought mine for $15.

This is really more for Lenovo or Dell laptops, coz. they enforce strict USB-PD.

          • @netsurfer: I tried it with this charger https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B08RYPT1HV/ref=ppx_yo_d… which I bought some time ago, it's working fine with my pi 4 B rev1.2.

            • @kml22: You used an el cheap USB-C cable right? It's not the charger, it is the cable.

There is a way to go above 15W with Pi 4, but you cannot do that with a charger that conforms to specs.

By the way, the 3.1A USB-A quoted on that charger you bought does not apply to USB-C normally. Unless, you somehow let it run out of specs. Not that you can tell without a USB-C meter. In general use, your Pi 4 doesn't draw 15W. It's not like you used all 4 USB ports with your Pi 4 and connect to devices needing a fair amount of power.

              • @netsurfer: I power it through the USB-C port, so both end is USB-C.
Also the USB-A to USB-C cable also work fine on the charger above.

            • @kml22: kml22 is likely correct, 5V 2A. Interesting.. I am going to borrow my brother's one and test it.

            • +1

@kml22: Okay, I have borrowed my brother's Lenovo charger. The charger says 5V/2A in the label, but when I run through a USB-C meter with USB-C PD Trigger, it is reporting 5V 3A max.

              • @netsurfer: Excellent, it should work for our Pi 4 B rev1.2 or above.

These work bloody great as a really long phone charger

    • thats true. great fast phone charger.

i use my laptop charger to charge my phone

  • Thanks OP. Had a $10 credit on my account. Paid $5 shipped.

    • Thanks OP. Had a $12 credit on my account. Paid $3 shipped.
      Possibly a pricing error ?

      • Yes pricing error .

  • Wow, that's cheap for a 65W USBC charger!

  • Not sure if it is still happening, but when I signed up for Lenovo Rewards or whatever it is called, I got 1,000 points straight away (which is worth $10). So might be worth trying this if you haven't already signed up.

    • +1

expired it seems "The $10 in reward points joining offer is only valid until 31/12/21 and is not transferrable or redeemable for cash. $10 in reward points is equivalent to 1000 points. Only 1 redemption per person."

  • +1

    Thanks OP, also got 2.
I will put one in my overseas travel pack :)

  • Got 1 for the price. Can I use this for the switch console or phone?

Yes but it will be a 10W charger.

    • +2

It probably won't work with a Nintendo Switch completely…

Nintendo in their wisdom (read that to mean commercial greediness), put some extra circuitry in the Switch USB-C power supply that the console detects to allow the Switch to power itself from a USB-C PD supply. It will probably work to charge the Switch but not to power it while it is turned on. You can read about the issue online.
