  • Thanks for posting. Lowest price according to camelcamelcamel.

    • Can it be used to buff up a car?

  • +1

    Price in title

  • For the charger, does it plug in directly to our wall socket with the use of an international travel adaptor thing?

    • +3

As far as I know you are not going to be able to use the charger without a transformer. It is a 110v US plug.

      • The charger could be 110/240 but better check the label before plugging it and smelling something burn.

      • +3

        Input: 100V-240V 47/63Hz

But definitely comes with a US plug.

      • Add the price of the step down transformer and you might as well buy it locally

        • +3

          ….if you needed one….

          • -1

@creesy: If its from the US, you need one. It clearly stipulates on the rear of the charger, it supports 110V @ 60Hz. Therefore invest into another respectable $200 for a step down transformer, unless you have a charger that supports the battery.

            • @vinni9284: The vast VAST majority of chargers will support anything between 110-250V at 50-60 hz. This is so the exact same charger can be sold internationally if the cord is changed. This is much cheaper than designing 2-3+ different chargers for different voltages.

              • @OZKap: OK then why does the rear stipulate one voltage? Normally, it denotes 110 - 240V AC. But this one doesn't. Look at the AV receives etc… one voltage rating and not switchable

                • @vinni9284:

OK then why does the rear stipulate one voltage?

Where are you getting this from?

                  Cheers.

                  • @MorriJ: Another poster had a link with the close up pic of underneath the charger. Not every unit is universal.

    • Dewalt 18v chargers Australia version are cheap anyway. I have about 20 for 50 bucks each inc postage.

  • +1

Cheaper than just the sander itself. Wowwee

  • +3

Thanks just ordered one. Considering this comes with a 2Ah battery, charger and bag for ~$80 less than what you'd pay for the sander only from retailers in Aus, I'd say that's a bargain.

  • +2

I've got the sander skin - it was about $105 AUD delivered last year from the US. Works great.

I'd be amazed if the charger was multi-voltage like laptops etc but if you're anything like me I have multiple chargers anyway - too many kit deals… Check the label on the bottom obviously and then either use an adaptor or simply put an Australian plug on it.

    • I got the sander as just the skin last year too… fantastic tool. So much better than the Ozito equivilant.

  • +1

Dear OPs, can I use this to polishing my car paint using proper skin?

    • +2

You could. You could use a wet frog.

      • +5

What is the correct grit of frog to use?

        • 😄😁🤣

    • +1

      You might …. it's a free country

    • +5

In all seriousness technically you could but I wouldn't because:
      - the included battery may not actually last the duration you'd need to do paint correction on a car, and
      - more importantly, car polishers have a speed of around 1000-4000 RPM this says its speed is 8000-12000 so it's likely to be too harsh on the paint

If you're adept at car polishing you could always try but if you are adept at car polishing you would (presumably) have a dedicated RO polisher

      • Ty good sir. Good insight

      • THX BRO

  • thanks ordered.. cashrewards also doing 4% i beleive

the 2ah battery also handy cause its much lighter than the bigger batteries

  • Thanks ordered one. Wanted one for the longest time but can't find a good one for a good price.

  • The charger is DCB112, I did a little research about it, luckily it seems accept input 100/260V, so likely it will work directly in Australia, but double check it before plug it in!!!

    • +1

Where did you get that information?

The photo of the back of the unit shows
      Input: 120V

      The description states:
      "This DCB112 Charger requires 120V 60hz input power, and is compatible with the following batteries: DCB101, DCB102, DCB105, DCB100, DCB106, DCB200, DCB201, DCB203, DCB204, DCB205, and DCB207."

      • +3

There could be multiple versions produced under the same name. Honestly I'd be surprised if anything with a switchmode power supply these days can't work on both 230V and 110V, it's a standard design and would cost more to re-implement a voltage-specific design than it would to just copy-paste the reference design.

Anyway, this one has the same model number and is worldwide power compatible:

        https://www.amazon.com.au/DEWALT-DCB112-Voltage-Battery-Char…

Having said all that if you get one and the sticker says only 110V/60Hz, don't plug it in unless you know how to check the circuit is safe.

        • This is UK model, USA is unique when it comes to compatibility.

      • +2

I recently got a deal for a Dewalt Cordless Reciprocating Saw Kit from Amazon US and I have to purchase another charger from AU.

      • Agree with abb, there could be multiple version of this DCB112. I've found photo of this charger but don't know how to insert a photo here.

      • +1

if it's only 110/120V then can replace just a cap

        https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yw6AxFheIww

        • Easy, spend ~ $AU 10 of a cap, $45 on a solderer and $10 for soldering wire. Or $220 and buy it locally and not stress about saving $3

          • @vinni9284: Chances are someone buying a kit off Amazon US already has a soldering iron.

If you had clicked the video you would see that in the title it says "Converting […] for $1.75"

I'd love to know where you can find a 125mm dewalt ROS kit for $220, I'm seeing skin-only for $240

            • @OZKap: I think buy it and connect it, turn the power on and then request an RMA through Amazon. Make sure you have a fire extinguisher ready

              • @vinni9284: Seems to have worked for the fella making the video.

Still waiting for that $220 kit locally

                • @OZKap: Like I said please buy it and call your insurance company and reassess your house insurance. Make sure you're not underinsured. Then turn it on

                  • @vinni9284: Like I said please link me to a random orbital sander kit for $220 locally

    • from looking at pages/photos pasted there are different models
OP US kit charger is made in Thailand and is 110v only
UK Global version made in China supports multi voltage
Fairly certain its is the Thailand version pictured in the kit

  • Ok, coz it shows that does not by the Q&A in Amazon https://www.amazon.com/DEWALT-20V-Battery-Charger-DCB112/dp/…

  • how can one compare power of sanders?

Say if you want to compare it to something like the OZITO X
    https://www.bunnings.com.au/ozito-pxc-18v-125mm-random-orbit…

Have a corded Bosch at the moment which is excellent but do need a cordless one too :-)

    • I own the Ozito one and it's very capable. Similar in performance to DeWalt/Makita. I suspect it will not take as much abuse as professional tools can but I have given it plenty of work and still holding up.

  • Thanks, ordered one. Good price considering it comes with the bag and battery.

  • Are they an authorised dealer?

    • +1

Amazon US? What are you trying to work out?

      • Extended warranty

  • Solid little sander. Bought one last year for $105. Comes in handy quite a lot. More than you realize.

  • Grabbed one, seems like a good deal

  • +1

Anyone recommend a good dust extractor to go with this tool? cheers

    • +1

I just got an adapter + hose clamp which then gets plugged in into a workshop vac hose (standard 35mm IIRC). Dewalt vacuum connection system is different, expensive and not available immediately

  • I'm a bit confused, is it a DeWalt brand or other random brand.

    • Dewalt but from US without local warranty

  • Is the DeWalt 20V batteries the same as the 18V batteries sold here?

    • +1

Yes, it is just marketing thing.

    • +1

they use li-ion batteries with nominal voltage is 3.7V each, max 4.2V. these would be 5x18650 cells in series to get 18.5V. more capacity by adding more 5x in parallel. e.g. 2x(5x18650) batteries. At 4.2V MAX, not sure why they don't market as "21V", maybe they need a tip from spinal tap

      • One more, just that one more

      • They've started using pouch cells in tool batteries. Not sure if these are those.

        • +1

Pouch cells are going to be awesome, Dewalt do have them and they market them as powerstack. These are not pouch.

Dewalt switched battery systems many years back and marketed the new batteries in the USA as 20V to differentiate them in their lineup, don't let the marketing hype get to you they are the same voltage as every other 18V tool battery pack.

  • I have the ryobi 18v sander, but there's a fair bit of vibration through the grip. Is this a worthy upgrade?

    • +1

I would say that's inherent with a ROS regardless of brand.

    • I don't have the ryobi to compare but I find my dewalt 18v sander reasonably smooth to use though not quite as good as my blue Bosch corded which has an antivibration system where the motor is de coupled from the palm grip which is very effective in stopping " vibration white fingers"

  • Anyone after the skin in Melbourne? I'm only after the battery/charger.

    • Please check PM

  • Ordered, been meaning to get one for a while. Thanks for the post.

  • last Amazon prime I got a cleanskin one for $111.87 I have a few corded random orbital sanders but this is my go to one now even if the job is next to a power point I use a 4 amp battery and it goes forever

  • Its in stock again, just bought one!! Thanks OP

  • Just noticed these have the battery mounted horizontally while the current au model is vertical, I wonder if there are other differences that let them sell at a cheaper price or maybe its a new and improved design??

  • This product is on longer available at this price from this seller, I guess it's sold out or this deal is expired, so I marked it as 'EXPIRED'.

  • Has anyone received one yet, I wanted to know if the bundled charger will work on 240v thanks.

    • +1

      Only 120v

      • Thanks for the info, still was/is a good deal.

  • I thought this was free delivery last time, it's now come down to AU$153.39 but not prime eligible for me so delivery is $27.87, I wonder why?

  • Just received today.. charger is only 120v

    • How did you solve this ?

      • I already had a Dewalt 240v charger so the 120v one went straight on the bin. You can pick up the 240v chargers on Facebook Marketplace cheap though. Usually brand new because they are often bundled with kits and people already have them.

        • Just had a look..not that cheap like $60

      • I already have a few dewalt chargers lol

    • Yours were way early! I've only received mine this arvo! Yeah, only 120V, some youtube video show you how to fix/convert it but I'm not sure those methods are safe and valid though.
