GHD Hair Straightener Peacock Limited Edition $255 Including Shipping

40

Unfortunately for me I just purchased the same ghd peacock straightener for my wife and paid over $269 (which I thought was the cheapest at the time).

Lucky for anyone else who is looking to purchase the same straightener, they are on sale for $255 including shipping through the ebay deals Hair Care Sale.

The ebay store that is selling the items is sydney_salon_supplies. They also have a website that is selling them for $269 and I have confirmed on the ghd official website that http://www.sydneysalonsupplies.com.au/ is a valid and authorised reseller.

If you want to confirm yourself, visit: http://www.ghdhair.com/au/help/website-checker

Available in three colourways – deep amethyst purple, rich emerald green and dazzling sapphire blue – each Peacock collection features a ghd Gold Classic styler with coloured plates and accents and a protective plate guard, along with a luxe storage bag and roll mat. Embellished with tonal Peacock embroidery and trimmed with sleek silver hardware, this heat-resistant satin roll bag protects your styler when not in use, while the heat mat provides a safe resting place during styling. This Peacock Purple limited edition features the ghd Gold Classic styler with purple plates and accents and a co-ordinating purple roll bag and heat mat.

IIRC there's been GHDs on OzB for a bit over $100 in the past…what is it exactly that makes this a bargain?

[edit] It's not…~$190 (119 quid) with free worldwide shipping: http://www.lookfantastic.com/health-beauty/hair/electrical/h…

    • Yes, it is cheaper but it is for the UK model and I'm not sure on the international warranty.

      • Check previous deals on OzB, it's all been covered before! ;)

        • Right you are.
Potential buyers need to consider if they prefer to spend ~$60 more for the AUS model.

That being said, I can't find the aus limited edition peacock model cheaper from any other verified reseller.

I'm happy to remove this if the majority deem it not a bargain.

        • Agreed, that's why I haven't negged the deal. Some folks will prefer to pay more to get local stock, and if this is the cheapest then it's a deal to them!

FWIW, I have family members that have dealt with Syd Salon Supplies before & the service was good! :)

Thanks for the heads up on this site! Official GHD website says its a valid reseller. Will make a lovely gift! Considering postage of such an item would cost about $20GBP from UK to AU, it just shows how overvalued these items are and how overpriced they are in AU!

  • dont feel bad for yourself…

  • I am unable see this as bargain. There was a group deal recently for around 180 for BOHO CHIC model.May be peacock model is expensive

    • Yes, the peacock limited is more expensive. A quick google will show you that.

  • Freaky, I just bought a GHD Gold one for my sister not 3hrs ago but I got it for slightly cheaper on ebay.

  • Don't know much about hair straighteners but seems to me this GHD company has done a top job of sucking people in and normalizing a high price for a very simple device.
Ceramic element, thermostatic control, plastic wand… how much can these things possibly be worth?
Perhaps this is a great version but there's no way it couldn't be worth more than $50.

    • Normally I'd agree, coz that's pretty good logic IMHO; but my hairdresser relos tell me that nobody has been able to reverse-engineer a GHD as yet, so they literally are streets ahead of any other straightener! :o

      • Must be sorta like Dyson with vacs then: slightly better design 400% dearer.
I don't see what there is to reverse engineer? Perhaps the exact mix in the ceramic heating plates?
        Anyway $255 seems way OTT.

        • I don't know what value your comments add. If you don't know much about hair straighteners, then you're just sharing uneducated opinions for no benefit to anyone.

You are probably right. But you will notice that such opinions are voted down. Those who pay premium prices hate to see such arguments. So let us leave it to whether this is a bargain or not rather than whether it is overpriced or not.
Same goes with all smart phones. The price they charge for new smart phones may be excessive. But we are hunting bargains on what is in the market.

May not know much about hair straighteners but I know a thing or two about electronics and I can tell you - there is nothing to these. I am also completely unaffected by advertising or hearsay about GHD so perhaps a different perspective? So hopefully some use "uneducated', seems a little pointlessly emphatic int21h?
          Dont really care though lol..

  • Was going to buy a GHD for my gf's bday but been reading a lot of stuff that says the Cloud Nine straighteners are better. Any opinions on this from educated ppl or know where to get them cheap as I can't find any bargains on them..
