Only "high sensitivity" not "very high sensitivity".

    • +2

If it’s not done correctly, doesn’t matter how sensitive it is

      • It’s not hard to put a stick in your nose.

        • +1

Actually I read one of the manuals and there is a process to some of 'em eg. deep cough to bring possible virus up, then swab etc

      • +1

        thats what she said

    • It's not too bad at 93.6%

    • +1

There's little if any real-world difference between "very high" and "high" sensitivity tests. The clinical sensitivity rates generally differ by a couple of percentage points (if that), and are based on modestly-sized trials with big confidence intervals. It's much more important that you perform the test correctly: there's no use getting a "very high" sensitivity test if you don't follow the instructions accurately.

    • Equally important: they didn't have a single false positive. Depending on where you are, and how high the prevalence of positive amongst the tested population, that has meaningful benefits.

  • The TVA?

      The Time Variance Authority

      • Glad someone got that reference..😃

To see if you have Covid? AFAIK vaccinated does not mean being immune

AFAIK vaccinated does not mean being immune

I think this is what he was sarcastically pointing out…

Off the top of my head, reading and listening comprehension!

In SA the guidance has just been changed to get PCR tested now that it's not being overwhelmed. I got tested this morning and the wait was only a few mins.

  • +2

save yourself 10 bucks. if your sick stay at home

    • +5

It's nice if you can flick the WFH switch. My employer gives two days before needing a medical certificate. Isolation period is longer than that. And sometimes you don't need it for work, eg caring for family

But yes, if sick stay home (which is what i assume your point really was) BUT also get tested so you don't come back too soon

      • +1

yeah sorry champ. i forgot about the people who cant WFH. Just all over this sh&t

    • +1

also people with pre-existing comorbidities treatment is more effective if you catch it before your oxygen levels tank etc.

  • I don't think I'll be buying any Chinese made tests thanks anyhow.

    • +4

Majority are made in China as is majority of everything!! Why wouldn't you buy a Chinese made test?

      • +1

Well if you can buy Australian made, I rather buy Aussie made.

I just got 2 x 20 packs from my wholesaler of innoscreen (had to wait 3 weeks). Not exactly the cheapest but I rather not have my money flow to China if there are Australian made stuff.

      • +3

I choose not to support a totalitarian regime that is actively hostile to my country. There are plenty of other countries to choose from, I don't care if China makes most stuff - the fact is nearly everything is available elsewhere.

        • -1

Australia literally has a worse surveillance regime than China.

Foreign powers have been given the power to alter what you publish, while the population dribbled on about conspiracy theories where China is spying on them.

Assange is what happens to Australians who blow the whistle.

Have you seen that Mitchell and Webb sketch where the Nazi asks if "we're the the bad guys"? Wakey wakey.

          • +3

            @Diji1:

australia's surveillance regime is worse than china's

Where can I get me some of that crack you're obviously smoking?

            • +1

@Ham Dragon: Truth is we are just as bad, if not worse. China's just more transparent about what they are doing.

  • +4

I don't think the fact they are made in China is the issue more whether or not they are TGA certified

  • I don't think I'll be buying anything from Harris Technology.

    • ha yeah, after that ebay voucher debacle..

  • +4

FYI Federal government has announced PCR and RATs will be tax deductible (source: ABC )

  • +2

I had a check. Juschek SARS-Cov-2 Rapid Antigen Test Kits are definitely TGA certified. With today's ABC news. Federal government to make COVID-19 PCR and rapid antigen tests tax-deductible. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2022-02-06/covid-tests-to-be-tax…, that is sweet.

Good find but I would get the 2San one from Healthylife (Woolies) instead. It is cheaper per unit and has higher sensitivity.
