  • Tempting. Would prefer the XM4's but this price is seriously low.

  • Thanks for sharing op. Does anyone know how well these fit compared to others in the market? I’ve been told AirPods Pro are the best for fit atm but others are better in sound quality

      Depend on your ear.

    • +2

Earphones usually come loose in my ears unless they have a hook or similar but these stay in great for me.

    • +3

I'm not a huge fan of the fit of these. It's fine if I'm sitting still but if I walk too briskly they feel loose. It's a shame because I like the sound of them. But I switched to Galaxy Buds +

      • +2

Same, I got these before and it kept falling out even just bending over to pick up some things.

    • +1

These are chunky and the only thing really holding them in is the fit of the buds and i couldnt get any of the supplied buds to fit nicely

    • +1

I run with these 4 times a week and they fit really well.
Had them for 2 and a bit years now and they've been amazing

    • +2

I have xm3 and Airpod pro.

xm3 = crap fit even with after market tips - you shouldn't need to spend $50+ to make an RRP* $399 set of earphones fit half decently while walking, let alone running/jumping/working out etc.

airpod pro = no problem so far. For running sometimes I reverse the sides, turn upside down and it actually sits naturally in the inner fold of ear for super good hold. I will agree this does look stupid however.

    • +1

These are well known for fitting very poorly.

      (I own a pair)

  • +4

I know this is very cheap but consider the new model, completely different fit and better. Fit is kind of important.

My refurbs from last year that cost ~$140 are still going great. This price is probably a little high IMO.

    • Not sure why you got negged, but im pretty sure i bought my refurbed from the same deal as yours and despite being refurbs, they were schmick and looked totally brand new. I had to return it though cause I couldnt get them to stay fitted. Pity cause the sound quality was fab

      • Yeah the ANC and sound are great for me. Not sure why everyone thinks this is a deal though considering posts below show it's an average price.

  • Dick Smith have this for $159 + $6.99 shipping

Kogan selling for $159 also + shipping/free shipping with First

    https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/sony-wf1000xm3-truly-wireless-n…

I am really worried about the comments regarding the fit….

    • +3

Both Kogan-based, so you are warned.

Would pay the extra for to deal with Amazon.

      • Ahh ok - I have yet to be educated about the horrors of Kogan lol thanks for the heads up

        • I never did it, the horror stories on here (and various other places) was enough to keep me away. Also would never buy their stock on the ASX.

          • @Monsta-AU: Agreed.

I will never buy from Kogan again.

The packaging is delivery horrible and customer service takes so long to reply.

    • Same here, used to buy from Kogan but now (after went through the pains of their return/refund process ) I prefer to buy from somewhere else than from them.

  • Same price at TGG. Waiting to see if there will be a latitude offer soon.

  • Personally Not Recommended. Broken shortly after 1yr warranty (one ear bud stop producing sound). Sony Electronics have been series of letdowns (Seen many frequent discounts on this product since purchase). Fooled by its former glory. Its entertainment company now, I guess.

    • +1

I'm looking at wireless buds at the moment and the common theme seems to be one earbud stops producing sound. I've seen it for Jabra, Sony, Edifier, soundpeet

      it sucks!

      • Hmmm..I had better luck with cheap nobrand Bluetooth earphone with neckband for running and dr. Dre/Bose headsets for years without any problems. I might have struck bad luck with this Sony maybe. Any recommendations from your experience?

        • not really sorry, I've decided to go with the Jabra Elite 85t's via Amazon when the next deal comes up. A friend just got them after returning the Bose QC Buds.

  • You can also buy direct from Sony for $179 + $6 delivery with 8% cashback at CashRewards. You can try ask Sony to price match the cheaper price of other retailers if you find it cheaper (don't believe they will match Kogan as Kogan direct import and not through Sony)

I've had my XM3 for 2.5 years and in terms of audio they still sound amazing even when comparing to headphones. The fit is not as comfortable as my Airpods Pro but for audio quality they are louder and have more bass compared to the Airpods pro.

If you have the right tips for your ear then they won't fall out. I would walk in them and never worried they would fall out.

The airpods pro definitely more comfortable for longer periods of time and also have better transperancy mode.

Mic quality is good enough in quiet environments but in traffic and wind then people sometimes complain but I think that's an issue with all wireless buds.

The Sony app is good enough and let's you play with many settings.

I've always said if I could only have 1 of my headphones/buds then I'd pick these because I enjoy my audio quality and these have best audio quality for their size.

    • Any chance you've experience poor mic quality in these or in your Airpods in windy conditions like I described in another comment?

      • +1

Yeah I haven't found a pair of wireless buds that are good quality when it comes to noisy environments. Xm3s, galaxy buds, airpods pro are all acceptable in quiet environments but turn to shit quick in traffic or wind.

Most of the time people would say its good enough quality but there has been times they complain.

        • Yeah, I couldn’t use mine out for jogging. Gave up after the first try, only used for quiet indoors. Seems like you had a better luck lasting 2.5 yrs.

Btw, have you noticed too loud white noise during your use? It seemed too loud compared to other noise cancelling headphones I have, even at lower noise cancelling settings. Longer use (over an hour or so) started to give me some mild pains in my ears (sometimes without anything on. Just from noise cancelling sound only). Not sure I just had a bad luck with faulty product or it’s common nc for Sony).

Anyway switched to Bose/Apple now, and happy with them so far.

phone call quality on these are poor, great audio quality and great on flights, average fit tho, have to keep adjusting so it doesn't fall out

  • +1

These are beyond crap. I have the airpod pros. Was looking for an upgrade. Everything about these is awful. The fit is disgusting. The headphones are huge they look ridiculous.

Funnily enough all those trusty reviewers said these were amazing, and now the XM4s are out they literally talk about the XM3s like they are rubbish.. I'm telling you all those "whathifi" and "cnet" type websites are on the take.

The airpods are actually the best all rounder from last gen. Seinhesier momentum tw2s are the best sound quality and have equal noise cancellation to the airpods pros, however their pass through is awful compared to the apples. If you put ambient sounds on and try cooking for example when you have food on the pan will result in the worst sounding crackle and pops you've ever heard. And my induction stove top causes the Momentums to moan (magnets?!) XM3s have good sound cancellation honestly that's it and probably like 10% better than the pro (barely noticeabl)

Also the Jabra and Seinheisers only being able to use one bud at a time.. just crap for the price.

I did like the Sony's software, quite advanced but not much good when they look and fit ridiculous.

  • +1

Got to say the fit is horrible, there will be a fairly sharp edge against your ear. I have tried 3rd party options however a sharp edge is still there.
If you have some sort of comfort problems w/ inears, run.
NFC is very convenient for pairing. The app is interesting.

Bought one of these back in 2020.

Probably the most overprice uncomfortable pair of headphones for 2020.
BT connectivity with phones etc is great but with Windows is terrible.
Calls drop out, watching youtube videos and it disconnects randomly. Skipping a video caused disconnections etc.
I wouldnt recommend this headphone at all.

    • BT connectivity with phones etc is great but with Windows is terrible.

A few weeks late, but if it helps you:

Right-click on volume icon in tray > Sounds > Scroll down > Right-click on "Headset" > Disable.

Now Windows will switch audio over to the Headphones module permanently.

You may need a proper BT adapter if using a laptop to get this full quality.

      • Thanks, I tried this but i needed the headset capability to also take calls occasionally.

        • You can re-enable it for calls (which I don't know why you would because it's atrocious quality). That way they're not useless when listening to everything else.
