Anyone have a charger recommendation that doesn’t cost the earth? I only have a few AAA’s that need charging and would prefer not to spend $40 on a charger.

    • +4

wont got wrong with XTAR VC4S or Nitecore D4

      • Thanks for the recommendation. I only need a 2 bay, would this be right for Eneloops?

        NITECORE INTELLICHARGERI2 Nitecore Intellicharge i2 2-Channel Smart Charger, Youth-Unisex https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B01GKO3IQM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_g…

      • I have the XTAR and it's designed for a variety of cell types and sizes, so the AAAs slip out of the outer 2 charging slots. It can only really charge 2 AAAs at a time. Almost all decent chargers have the same design (some have the really fat slots for all 4).

        • I received my XTAR VC4S recently, managed to change AAA on the 2 outer slots, but it is tricky to get it stay in position, wonder if those AAA -> AA adapter will help.

        I second this. Great charger

Silly question, can the Lii and D4 charge single batteries? I have an annoying number of devices that use three batteries, and although my trusty Maha charger is very good it only charges in multiples of two.

          • @Astronaut Joe: The one I linked definitely charges single batteries with no problems at all as I do it regularly with a single 18650 battery.

To add to this I also do charges with 3 AA's as I have a device that takes 3 AA's and I rotate those regularly.

      Nitecore D4/D2 A$14.07/A$11.77 delivered.
Edit: I couldn't post it, the reason is the deal doesn't meet AliExpress posting guidelines.

      • Which one is better, the D4 or the New i4?

      • This is cheap, I wonder why the post was removed? I had an alert setup for it as well so I got the notification but saw the post was removed due to guidelines. Anything I need to be worried about ordering from them?

        • +1

The seller only has one feedback, so it doesn't meet AliExpress posting guidelines. Don't be worry If you use Paypal.

          • @jimojr: looks like that buyer was scamming sigh - guess the guidelines are there for a reason

    • I've been impressed with this unit, just be mindful that is has a noisy fan to keep the batteries cool when it does it fast charge.
      Including 4 batteries as well!

      https://www.jaycar.com.au/varta-fast-ni-mh-battery-charger-w…

      • interesting… everywhere else is selling these for 60-70plus and jaycar has it for $25

      • +3

Note that this charges cells too fast (around 1C) and will reduce battery life:

        https://lygte-info.dk/review/Review%20Charger%20Varta%20LCD%…

Fast charging is a plus if you don't mind replacing your batteries more frequently than needed though.

        • I think that's one of the reasons it comes with the lower capacity battery as they handle a higher number of recharges. But seriously, how many batteries get recharged 800 times?

  • +1

This has some good reviews, although I haven't used one personally. https://www.ikea.com/au/en/p/tjugo-battery-charger-with-stor…

  • Thanks bought a pack.

  • +5

Thanks. Need AA too. I just don’t understand where all the batteries I buy go…

    • +4

      Yeah agreed…. they just hide.
      Some lehit locations I remember:
      Clocks
      Remotes
      Torches and night lights
Maybe a wireless mouse somewhere in an electronics bag…
      Stumped on the others.

      • +1

Yes bloody wireless mouses…there’s loads of them in this house. I’m going to go reclaim my batteries!!!

      • +1

If you have kids it's mostly toys

    • +2

Maybe Mr Jones is chucking them out with the rubbish?

      • +4

THIS! I have caught this happening with childrens toys which have a lockable battery compartment….

      • +1

yes check if ur kid is trying to help get rid of old batteries in the bin as well. costly when kid is doing more help than we want him to :)

    • I have 3x eneloop AAAs in a toy or a torch somewhere that I can't find…

    • in my wife's body actually

  • Build a shrine (Chep Pallet style) to SANYO Eneloop batteries 😉

  • Not bad works out to $3.21 Per eneloop

    • +3

      3.61 vs 2.50 ladda or 3.25 delivered

      Is 16 batteries not 18!

      • +2

        This is not the way

      • Oops my bad!

  • +6

We should crowdfund an electric self driving OZB car to run on eneloops. It will transport peeps to the relevent stores so that they can line up and buy their goods as bargains come up.

  • Capacity 950mAh

  • what charger do you all use with these?

    • +1

      LiitoKala all the way!

      • +2

I have a LiitoKala 2 channel charger and it uses too high current for AAA imo. The batteries get very hot to touch.
I use a poor quality USB cable to power the charger to overcome this.

  • Bought. Thanks OP.

    • yEaH tHaT kInDa PeRsOn ShALl NoT bE oN oZbArGaIn

    • F- yeah! Double the price for less cells! /s

  • I'd buy it price per battery is good, but I dont need 16 batteries Lol Only need like 4 AAA. And nor wanting to spend $57 either.
The rest 12 would be wasted. If i buy for $57.
Hoping they put a deal on 4 pack soon. like $11 or something

    • Go for IKEA ladda instead.

      • Thank you will buy them when I go to airport area next time !!.

  • thanks OP, now waiting for AA deal

  • Wow.

  • so if you can get hold of IKEA Ladda it will be a better buy?

  • ~$3.6 per battery. for 950mAh vas $2.5 for 750mAh LADDA 🤔

    • +1

I am waiting for $7 ladda x 4 sale price should be coming this year

    • wonder why did IKEA stop selling 900mAh AAA LADDAs 🤔

    • The IKEA price includes delivery?

      • apples to apples mate

  • I don't have that many remotes to use a 16-pack of Eneloop's AAA's for🤔

    • +2

Do what I did, go out and buy some more things that take AAA. I now have 5 electronic items I can put my spare batteries in

  • Are there any USB chargers for AAAs thast good?

  • starts counting all the things in the house that use AAAs to justify buying 16 of them

    • If anyone in Melbourne wants to split a pack I need 8

      • i can… where are you in Melb? I am near Box Hill.

        • I'm in Coburg North but I work on St Kilda Rd just south of the cbd.

  • I don't need 16; anyone in WA want to split a pack? Send me a PM.

    • +1

WA is massive, just wondering how do you plan to make the logistics work for this? 😯

  • +1

Smarter buy are EBL 1100mah 16 pack at Amazon for $28 + postage
    https://www.amazon.com.au/EBL-Rechargeable-Batteries-16-Coun…

    • anyone know anything about these except that the price is lots less, and the stated capacity is a bit more?

  • Good deal but thats too many AAA's 🙂

  • Sweet I'll be able to tape them together and use them as an emergency battery when my EV runs out of range going to the shops. Thanks op!

  • Am I the only one that uses the Panasonic charger they can come with?
    https://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=https%3A%2F%2Feneloop10…

I also have a D4 and Xtar but I use them for lith ion even though they can do NiMH, I think they actually charge too fast hence why I use the above Panasonic one

    • +1

NO you are not the only one…
      I am with you.

    • Isn't this a bit too slow though? It would take 10+ hours to charge these Eneloops @100mA.

      • The slower the better as far as I'm concerned, less heat means more recharge cycles and better battery health

  • Can I charge Tesla with these batteries? 🤔 too good to be missed.

  • If you have a 3d printer (or friend with one) print out a battery dispenser, they are great. Plenty on thingiverse.

  • IKEA really needs to stock the ladda charger again :(

  • Looks like this deal is over.

  • +1

Honest question, why are these batteries so beloved and popular here?

    • I just gotta have them.. they are reusable

      • Thats not a reason!!!

  • Mine rocked up today. First ever empty package. Looked like it hadn't been sealed properly :(
