wondering if the metabox or ziao mi laptops represent good value for a 13/14" laptop with the need to run windows 11. touch screen not essential but might be useful
upgrading from a macbook 2015 12" mostly emails, word processing and a few simple games. after upgrading to os x big sur its a little on the slow side.
Thats seems a weird response without telling us the reasons why?
Overall unimpressed with build quality and support.
Selection of keys crapped out over 18 months, first it was just 1-2 keys but got worse over time. I suspect mainly due to heat. I probably could have pushed for accc but didn’t want to do that to a small business like Kong. Keyboard is relatively serviceable but not plug and play requiring times and tools. Parts were at my cost too. Ended up using an external keyboard.
I had issues with the speakers too as they sounded really tinny and muffled. Reported within first weeks of owning. I will accept laptop speakers are crap in general but even My surface pro 3 has miles better sound with less space for speakers. A third party did try to troubleshoot but all they did was say I had not installed the right sound card drivers… I just ended up using headphones instead.
Too bad you can't get another mac, the M1 macbooks are fabulous.
I will agree with Jimothy that the Metabox's represent great value (have ordered 3 for work) but are fairly utilitarian/ unrefined compared to the flashier computers like Xiaomi's and macbooks. Really solid for graphics/3d work though for example. Although, I have not had experience with the Flo model you linked to. Metabox computers are basically badge engineered/platform shared/OEM manufactured Clevo computers. From memory the Flo are not really upgradeable like the rest of the Metabox range. For more widespread searching/reviews the Metabox Flo is also Clevo L140CU. Finally, metabox are also a bit like Kathmandu where you should only buy if they have a decent 'sale'.
how many usb-a ports on te xiaomi laptops?
Metabox is great value but I wont personally be going with them again when it comes time to upgrade laptop again.
