I really would suggest you don't feed your beloved pooch this rubbish.

    • Depends what else you feed them, mine get a fair bit of fresh meat so this is just filler for them

    • What's the alternative?

www.petfoodreviews.com.au is used by a lot of people on here. Have a read.

Fillers is exactly right. Wheat and corn meal, neither of which dogs are supposed to eat. They literally use the crap off floor they can't sell for human consumption and make dog food.

        • Very good advice Maxwellish - wheat and corn meal is bad for their belly

It’s a bit hard to trust a review site that has ads for the same products it reviews.

          • @MunkyAU: Did you read any of them? Feed your dog what you like mate.

Lots of people appreciate the information to help them make an informed choice.

@maxwellish: I read the “about” section and old mate Dave’s LinkedIn. Lots of stuff about not trusting vets and science.

Trust whatever source you like mate, I’m just questioning this bloke, his unspecified qualification in “pet nutrition” and his site full of pet food ads.

Maybe it’s just a coincidence that one of his highest rating ($150 a bag btw) also advertises on his site.

              • @MunkyAU: I did notice a lack of actual scientific testing. The reviews seemed to rely on the reading of labels and some assumptions from there. Which is fine - but as noted, caveat emptor I guess. And there was also inconsistent, emotive language. Eg: "28% protein is above average and good to see" and then, elsewhere on another food: "We find the food boasts a reasonable 28% protein".

Blackhawk is the general goto in the price:health tradeoff.

    • Woolworths is only 7.5KG compared to Amazon 12KG

  • For a 7.5kg bag is $12 at my IGA. Don't know if they have the wrong price on it, but i've been buying it for a month now.
