Everyday Rewards Program Time Zone Booster Issues

I have my everyday rewards linked to my Qantas frequent flyers account in order to get that extra amount of QFF to have the point flexibility for booking plane tickets. I do a big Wooly shop every weekend. Overtime, I got hit by what could be called the 2 hours booster scam. In short, you have to manually enable the booster in the app. If you don't enable them 2 hours before you pay in the shop, you don't get the rewards ( even if you fill all the requirements).
Got in contact with customer support today, because I was sure there was a mistake with a booster I was pretty sure I should have had. The customer support showed me the time at which the booster had been enabled, and it was in Sydney time. I am in WA, so obviously anything I boost in the hours leading to my shop, I will never get. I don't know how long this bug has been in there, but it could have a massive impact on anyone in a different time zone then AEDT (Australian eastern daylight time).

Have a ticket with their IT team, will see what happens in the future.

I think I understand what you’re trying to say, but I’m not sure. For example:

    • You boost a booster at 11:10am AWST (2:10pm AEDT) and complete a transaction at 1:50pm AWST (4:50pm AEDT).

    • You shopped 2 hours and 40 minutes after you boosted the booster, so you should be all good and within Everyday Rewards’ two hour rule.

    • However, Everyday Rewards uses the AEDT time you boosted the booster (2:10pm) and compares it with the AWST you actually complete the transaction (1:50pm) to determine whether you have boosted the booster in time. However, since Everyday Rewards thinks you shopped before you boosted the booster, it determines you did not boost in time and therefore cannot get any points from the booster.

If that is what you are saying, that is lousy programming and very doggy.

Exactly, thanks for putting it in a easier form to understand :D

      • boosted in the future….
        .

    • Now I understand the issue.

  • set an alarm on friday night to go into the app and boost all you can see in the app

then you can shop on the weekend with no issues of not having the boost not in place

    terrible program i agree,

    • Yeah too lazy :) I am just going to have to live with the idea that the profit margin of Woolies is based on lazy customer like me that boost too late :D

  • Interesting that they enforced the two hour rule. From what I understand, the rule is just to give them leeway so their systems can update in case there are delays.

One time I was shopping and forgot to boost beforehand. I boosted whilst in the store and the bonus points came through ok.

Maybe you are on NZ time? 😀

  • Am I missing something? Is there any benefit in activating the boosters at the last moment? Or were you just unlucky in that the email came in just before your grocery run?

Given the boosters are targeted, there's usually at least one thing on the list that I'm likely to buy in any given week. I just activate them as they come in.

I activated the booster at home before going to the shops. If adjusted for time zone, I boosted 1h20 before paying at the shops, so still not valid. Being a 'loyal' customer, it is annoying that
1- You have to manually boost
2- That you have to do it 2h before, this is clearly done to trick people IMO.

Just activate them as they hit your inbox.

        Problem solved.

  • I've often boosted offers just before going to the checkout and have never had an issue.

  • Update : After logging an issue with their IT team last week, received a message today saying that the issue had been resolved and got the bonus points…
So here you go, time zone bug … (I should get a bounty bonus… )
