PCR Test for Internation Travel in Sydney

Just wondering if anyone has looked into the PCR test for international travel recently.
We had to cancel flights earlier due to surge in December. Booked them for mid Feb.

Not sure if Histopath are reliable or need to go to airport to get tested?

  • Have you seen this?

    • Thanks. I did actually. But mid december is slightly outdated as that was the peak of the testing crisis. Was looking for updated info to see where are people getting testing for international travel nowdays.

      • Fair enough! However, if they were good mid-December and early January when queues were massive and the number of people getting tested was extremely high, I would say they've already passed the test.

Histopath at the Sydney International Terminal/Carpark is great. Fantastic operation there!!

If you are travelling before 10am or thereabouts, you can get your test the day before. But if your flight is like after 10'ish, they will ask you come that morning.

Results are in around 60-90minues in most cases, though they will tell you it might take 2hours.

    • Thanks. Didn't realize it was in carpark. So, that works well.

Do you know if one needs to make appointment?

      • You can make an appointment however I recommend just going to the airport testing site 4 to 5 hours early to do the test. They will help you out with the process. I was there in Sydney Airport just few weeks ago. It is fast and easy. Also their nurses know how to be gentle with the testing kit unlike Thailand.

Histopath has been my go-to testing company since the pandemic began. I've used two of their drive-through testing places several times each (West Pennant Hills and Killara). They are consistently fast and reliable, texting the results in 5-8 hours on a normal day. It sure beats isolating for 24-48 hours with other testing places. Haven't used them for travel yet, but I'd have confidence seeing that name behind it.

Histopath Brisbane were a breeze. Our flight was at 11:45am mid Jan, so we opted to test the day before. Went in at 7:45am for an 8:00 opening and they were already testing. Only had about 10 people in front of us. We were tested in about 15min and received the results 30 mins later. When we were departing the next day their line-up was much longer, guessing over an hours wait. If planning to get tested on the day it would pay to check the airports online departures schedule to estimate how busy they might be.

  • Had the test a couple of weeks ago at Histopath at Sydney Airport. Booked and paid online, walked in for the test 5 hours before my flight, got my negative result an hour later

    • Thanks a lot.
