I am travelling to Germany next month for a holiday and was wanting to know if I purchase a VPN here in Australia will I be able to use it in Germany to access websites in Australia.

In the UK at the moment and haven't had an issue accessing any Australian websites without any VPN. Anything in particular you want me to check?
I am using Express VPN in Germany now. No problems.
It's a worthwhile investment because in Germany there's an industry around detecting torrent users and then through threats of legal action "extorting" payments. Focussed on the uploading side of the torrent game.
I got caught a few years back when connecting for an hour to a friend's wifi when I had a torrent programme open. I did not download anything in Germany but the programme was of course seeding the torrent from my stay in Asia. Expensive lesson.
If you aren't looking to stream and just need to get around geoblocks, then a free VPN from https://www.vpngate.net/en/ might be enough (vpn974182562.opengw.net)
For streaming you can get better results just changing DNS with something like https://www.getflix.com.au/ (although Getflix also do a VPN)
You can purchase VPN anywhere - just check before you buy that it has endpoints in Australia
