IKEA Matchspel Chair - Any Good? (Also, Other Recommendations?)

Hey everyone!

I've been looking for a good office chair for a while now, but don't really want to spend over $1k for it. I'm pretty new to this office chair business (last job gave me a chair to use) and I've been sitting on this cheap gaming chair for a coupe of years now, but need something with some sort of back support and a mesh back (my room gets extremely hot sadly).

I've seen this IKEA chair be posted a bit on the forums. Does anyone have a review on it?

I have a friend that has an Ergohuman Elite Mesh that he quite likes, the split back looks odd to me, but could be comfortable.

The only other question I have is the seat material. I've seen chairs that have mesh seats, fabric or leather. Which do you prefer?

Also open to any other recommendations.

Thanks!!

  • If you don't need a headrest then I highly recommend Buro Metro chair - very comfy seat and height adjustable back. It can be had for around $300-350.

    • is there a specific model you would suggest?

      • The original 'Buro Metro' if you can still find it as it maybe EOL. Or the new model 'Buro Metro II' (which is a bit more expensive but still good value).

  • Would go for the Ergoguman V2, using it right now and really comfortable

something with some sort of back support

Interestingly, I found that the best thing that's happened for my "chair game" is getting rid of a back support (so my chair is now basically like a stool). Actually forces me to have better posture (can't slouch, for example), and use the muscles in my back more. Additional benefit is that when I've been sitting for too long and getting tired, I can't just slouch back and keep sitting, but will have to stand up, walk around, stretch for a bit before sitting back down.

Best thing I've done in terms of having a better "sitting" life.
