Please Recommend Me a $1400 TV

I have $1400 to spend on a TV; please recommend something to me.

  • The main use will be TV/Movies via Plex; I'd like something 4K and HDR as a result.
  • I'm not into high frame rate gaming, but would like reasonably low lag for 60Hz retrogaming via emulation.
  • I've got a long living room with the spot for the TV at the end of it; I'm happy to slide the couch back a bit if it's over large.
  • I've got an old, cheap 42" 1080p at the moment, and would like an upgrade to enjoy better visual quality.
  • I'm happy to wait a couple of weeks if there's something good (sale, new model) coming up.

    Ring all the local TV resellers, give them your list of wants and budget, they'll advise you

      The local TV stores will only recommend stuff they have in-stock to sell; they won't recommend cheaper/better deals online.

      I figured since there's so much informed discussion on the bargain side any time a TV gets posted, I might get some useful suggestions in this forum.

    55" OLED unless the room is unusually bright.

    You can get larger with other panel types.

    Hello legend,

    My pick is the TCL c825 you can pick up a 55” for about $1500 on a deal. It uses mini LED so you have a good compromise between brightness and black depth. The new crop of TVs haven’t emerged yet and we don’t know when they will go live. For now that is my pick.

      So I read a bunch of reviews after you posted that, and it seems exactly like what I'm looking for. i did some price checking, but there were none on sale.

      Then, this afternoon, I happened to be browsing OzB when one came up for $1505 shipped. There were only five left, and so I bought one immediately.
