EBay have become too expensive. When they moved from PayPal to Adyen, it was meant to get cheaper. We need an alternative. Bricklink has the platform and the world wide reach. They should launch an eBay competitor. And they are owned by Lego who have the capital.

Another move by eBay to grab more revenue. Cheapest regular AusPost service with tracking is $9.30 so if a seller adds that to a listing eBay will get extra commission of about $1.05 on the postage charge.
That aside I cannot see sellers being able to add postage of $10.35 to the price of (say) sub $10.00 items they sell.
eBay could achieve the same end result if they applied the payments on hold policy for any seller that has a record of recorded INR cases of more than (say) 2%

    • That aside I cannot see sellers being able to add postage of $10.35 to the price of (say) sub $10.00 items they sell.

There is no such thing as 'free' postage… So yeah sub $10 items that need to go in a tracked parcel will need to be $20 now :)

    • Cheapest regular AusPost service with tracking is $9.30

That is incorrect. You can get a letter tracked.

A small letter that is normally $1.10 is $3.05 including the envelope.
      medium $2.20 letter is $5.10
      large $3.30 letter is $6.15

      • True, but that is for letter sized items only.
Also, those items are not integrated into the eBay system so they do not qualify

Greedy eBay. Is that even legal?

I've stopped selling there as it was costing too much and I now mainly sell on Gumtree and FBMP.

I also buy from AliExpress where goods are up to 1/2 the eBay price and lately are arriving in 2 - 3 weeks from receiving payment.

  • This wont affect sellers who sell small items and post via untracked letter postage as long as the listing has "Australia Post Domestic Regular Letter Untracked service" as the postage service, lots of sellers don't have this specific selection and has 'Australia Post Standard Parcel" but still send untracked letter postage.

  • Below are just the general online shopping (it can happened to any online website / market)

    a) On top of this situation been avoiding online once get taste the bitter the next time if shop/retail $10 and online $8, we rather paid $2 to avoid below horror stories and enjoy the paid item after queue.

    • no tracking number can save you. once parcel with the delivery person sending and the knew it is high end expansive stuff and low end too many work required to deliver unexpected situation might happened, it will be odd if below horror stories are made up. There is no incentive for courier company at the moment to put dashcam with GPS to reduce/avoid the situation.

    b) Of course news from media is mostly bad because bad news sell more in general (wish media share more good news)

cause it is a hit or miss like gamble. All below are general public news which I am aware and I am not affiliate and/or associate with.

    c) issues with courier company and/or Australia post, in the past I reported parcel missing, yet no parties care on my interest and the worst part is it felt the claim process is almost impossible, they hire a team of ppl from the post $ you paid to make sure claim is not easy

when shipping with courier company and/or Australia post below might happened.
