I've recently used Tender Center a couple of times now and had pretty good success. We were just culling some stuff and ended up taking it there and putting a $0 reserve on the items. If the items don't sell, you can either pick them up or they get donated to charity - we were going to do the latter initially anyway.
I don't mean for this post to sound spammy but just thought I'd let you guys know if you were wondering what to do with junk you don't want.
It would be good if you could say what city this is in.
Sounds better than gumtree because sounds like you don't have to deal with the buyer. What sort of commission do they charge? etc.

$201 - $1000 20%
$1001 - $2000 17.5%
$2001 - $3000 15%

Minimum commission on any item is $2.50 Inc.GST.
GST calculated and charged on the commission only unless specified.

Their rates have actually improved significantly since we looked into it a few years ago. It was around 30 or 35 per cent at the time.

I used to drop into my local one but it closed. Sold a couple of large garden items too, definitely less hassle than eBay, drop it off, bye-bye stuff. They take items Cash Converters won't touch. They used to have some of the most obscure things and boxes of random stuff where you might find a hidden gem amongst the crap.
A good alternative for those that do not want strangers comming to their home.
Dropped off an old push bike at local TC a long time ago… expected to get 10-20 bucks… 2 people had a bidding war… got 120 for it!
