Is It Worth Using Car Brokerage Service?

Hi all, looking to buy a Landcruiser Prado brand new for 7 seaters option. Just wondering is it worth using a car brokerage service? Would that really save me some real money and headache? Looking to buy brand new only, as I don't mind waiting, and the second-hand market is crazy now.

If anyone knows any good contact in Perth. Appreciate it if you could pm me. Thanks!

So yer, no dont bother. Good luck getting a new prado off the showroom floor with exactly what you're after.

    • I don't mind waiting though

      • So try some brokers and find out?

It’s a high demand vehicle in a low supply market so don’t expect much.

    • My work place bought one brand new last week off the showroom floor. You are right there's not much choice but there are Prados in country dealerships!!

Yes, you have nothing to lose and potentially a lot to gain.

Try motorscout.com.au — once you tell them exactly what make, model, colour and accessories you want they will contact numerous dealers who will "bid" and give you their best price first time.

When I did it, it only took about 4 hours to receive 6+ offers. I ended up saving 11% on my vehicle, compared with the 5% discount I had managed to negotiate myself. There was zero cost to me for this service.

It literally takes one phone call and 5 minutes explaining what you want, you'd be a fool not to do it.

Heh, you think dealers waste their time bidding for these guys? I used to work in fleet, whenever I got a request from a broker it went straight to one of my retail guys or in the bin.

    • Was this pre covid?
      What make / model?

Yes it was, so bids might be a bit more scarce today. But I still follow the broker on Facebook and I see them making deals for people every couple of days.

It was a Ford Everest, by the way. Picked it up two days later from the fleet manager — not sure why they wouldn't want the commission, as Gronk implies. No fuss or fanfare, no attempt to upsell me any extras. I will 100% do this again next time I buy a car.

What have you got to lose, honestly?

Got $5000 off when I bought through a broker.

I tried a few dealerships beforehand and at the time, they wouldn't budge from RRP.

Broker basically bought 6 cars from dealership.

Broker service also had car delivered to my door which was a nice touch.
