Hi all,
This is about as cheap as I could find for this drive.
Delivery should be free with Amazon Prime.

SMR
You'll need to go 8TB+ for Red for CMR. Red Plus or Red Pro are all CMR.
$145 for the Red Plus (CMR unlike this SMR drive).

I just picked one up last weekend
I bought one too, but chose Centre Com which was $1 more but free shipping: https://www.centrecom.com.au/wd-red-plus-wd40efzx-4tb-5400-r…
This is what I don't understand. Why a hard drive purposed for NAS is SMR? What difference does it make with drives which are also SMR like barracuda if used in NAS?
Why a hard drive purposed for NAS is SMR?
The answer is money.
SMR is the new Astrazeneca
Seagate is same price but 5900rpm
Seagate 4TB IronWolf NAS SATA 6Gb/s NCQ 64MB Cache 3.5-Inch Internal Hard Drive (ST4000VN008),Silver https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B01LOOJBQY/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt…
Better off with ironwolf for a few bucks more.
Only 34c more..
Drive is SMR (thus unsuitable for NAS) and the CMR IronWolf is 34 cents more
Needing a deal on the 8TB or 10TB WD RED or Element drove! Any around?
Cmr?
