Another one just like the VAVA, the last one 8-in-1 I bought works fine with Google Chromcast TV, power, USB drive or hard disk, I tested with my iPad 8 PD charger but not sure about this one.

This used to be one of the better rated hubs at 4.7 when sold under Vava branding. Though who knows what that means given their ban ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I have this hub and haven't had any issues with it, though, it is my least used hub.

    For those wondering - 4k30hz

    The brand name is hilarious

  • Anyone have any suggestions on extending something like this another 2m or so? Or would signal/power/latency issues likely to cripple it? Don't care about HDMI output.

Got a new G1 TV on the opposite wall of my PC, so my lounge is gradually turning into my workstation haha.

If you can somehow source a decent quality extension cable, then maybe. However, it is probably not a good idea as you will most likely paying more than this hub for the cable. If you gone cheap, then how are you going to tell whether it is the extension cable or the hub when there is an issue?

      • Good point. Will go basic.

  • This is cheaper for $26 after 10% discount

    • 5 in 1 model

    • Yikes! That is not a great recommendation.
No Chromecast compatibility and a lot of questionable reviews.

For a $2 difference, I'd stick with this one.

      • Dunno about chromecrast but i cant see why it wont support it. I use this to dex my samsung tab s7 fe and its going well

        • Stated in multiple reviews. There's also the possibility that it doesn't support HDCP

Can not work with Switch, Netflix, Spotify and Amazon Prime

          • @ihfree: Interesting and this one can??

            • @Homr: Yes, I've played protected content back through my one and haven't issues.

OP also states this works with Google TV with Chromecast.

              • @ihfree: Thanks, I learnt something new today 😁

                • @Homr: I'm not sure either way honestly. In addition to the description, there's a question and a review stating that there are issues with Netflix and a few saying it works fine.

With the minimal price difference, I think this is one is a safer bet than the Haribol.

The VAVA 8-in-1 I bought from last deal not exactly this one but a very high chance it will work because of both are VAVA

Dunno about chromecrast but i cant see why it wont support it.

A lot USB-C hub didn't work with Google Chromecast TV

      • What's so good about this one? The card reader is USB 2.0 so it is either el cheapo or just really old design.

DP 1.2 based hub so I guess it is okay for people only use up to 2K output.

        • +1

That's pretty much it USB + 2K output at a reasonable price with a well rated product.

It looks like you'd be paying about $14 more for the cheapest hub supporting DP 1.4 / 4k60hz. These suffer from the same problem as Haribol with numerous issues reported.

I'm waiting for a decent 4k60hz hub, though I'm not really in a hurry. Out of curiosity, what would you currently recommend.

    • There are better plugable ones. That one is yet another DP 1.2 based chipset. USB4, Thunderbolt 4 - gosh, that's kinda cheating. Sure, in order to get USB4 / Thunderbolt 4 tick, it must support USB-C / USB 3.1/3.2 gen 2 (inc. alt-mode).

      • Any model you can recommend?
