Looking alarm and CCTV package install Perth
Comments
Cheers thank you ,have you used them before?
Been helping my brother with an alarm install that was installed NOT done correctly for how close he is to the beach and as such the connections have all failed and the installer left no docs and on some of the camera's only put one out of 3 screws holding it to the wall.
As such there is a big difference with good and bad installers. I would have done allot better job, but I was not involved in it's install or configuration.
I would make sure of the following:
1) You get a wiring diagram.
2) All of the cables are labelled.
3) All of the cable joins need to be IP68 or better. Example of a joiner is:
https://www.jaycar.com.au/waterproof-rj45-joiner-ip68/p/PS40…
4) All of the cabling to the camera needs to be concealed so that people cannot easily rip or cut the cable (put it in conduit if needed).
5) Use CAT 5E cabling as you will need to get power to the camera's and network. People will say use a wifi camera, but how are they going to be powered? Solar $$$$, battery… or POE yes.
6) Ensure that ALL of the windows and doors are covered by the camera's.
7) Ensure that you get the best camera's you can for your budget.
8) Get a NVR that stores the camera feed locally and allows you to access it via phone apps and via PC's. This way you can check the camera when on holidays.
9) Do NOT get camera's that upload to the cloud as this will saturate the link and the amount of data uploaded will be huge and you will need to pay $ per month.
10) make sure the camera's are at least IP67 or better (IP66 will not last very well in a windy heavy water storm). And finally good luck.
Many thanks for the reply cheers !🙌
We are in Perth also.
We actually never use our alarm system, when the alarms
Go off no-one actually does anything about it. It was pre-installed when we purchased the house and moved in. The old owners had the place as a holiday house on airbnb or something and they never used it either. It was an ex display before that so maybe they used it then i’m not sure.We got cctv cameras installed soon after moving in. We use Reolink brand. We have about 8 surrounding the house including 1 inside the garage. We mainly use the app to view via the NVR or its attached to the computer monitor. We have an additional 2 in our young children’s rooms connected by wifi to the same app.
The doorbell is Eufy brand but there are no issues using separate apps
We had ours installed by an electrician. I’m not sure if that electrician had a security license though as they should only be installed by someone with a security license. Only learnt that recently and even before we sold and moved we had Reolink installed at the old house by another electrician.
We did also install high quality invisiguard screens to all the external doors and windows. I will also recommend that with cctv.
Oks thanks for the reply very much appreciated ,our house has an installed alarm already and black and white cameras ,but there seems to be parts missing from the previous owner.
Definitely looks like hard drive and few other pieces so we've never got it looked at ,it's over 10years old so we think it could be defunct or out of date with new technology,so trying to find decent installer or good hardware to look for.
Hey Francis, who did you decide to go ahead with?
We've bought a new 3x2 house in Maylands and are looking at a house security alarm system
Wondering if it's better to do a Zone alarm system with RAC linked above and buy two three EUFY around the house to keep an eye on our puppy and (soon) baby.
