Bought these this afternoon from KMart:
Verbatim 16GB USB drive for $10.
OfficeOne 32GB USB drive for $20.
Burwood store is having renovations done - maybe in that store only?

Yep they are there.
Entertainment section. Not in the glass case but next to them, behind the counter.
Verbatim $10 16 GB
OfficeOne (aka Kmart) $20 32 GB
Wathc out for the OfficeOne $15 ones. Those are just 16GB.
read/write speeds pls
I'm not familiar with read/write speeds, so I looked up eHow and Whirlpool and found reference to H2TestW. So I'm using that.
Drive: OfficeOne 32GB "Hi Speed"
After 1 minute of running it's picked up from 4 MB/s to 4.36 MB/s.
Is the speed going to improve much if I finish the test?
Would I be correct in thinking the speed is pretty poor?
edit: 5 mins on and speed is now 4.31 MB/s
Looks like a whole lot of places are clearing out the USB 2.0 thumbsticks to perhaps make way for USB 3.0 thumbsticks? Im looking out for a deal on either a USB 3.0 16GB or 32GB stick.
speeds dont normally pickup after about a minute or so. Only need to run the test to the end if you suspect a counterfeit card..
4.3mb isnt exactly fast but it is cheap.
read speed is probably around 11mb/s?
Oh, I haven't tried a read test … I'll check the software and all later
H2TestW choices were either write+verify (see earlier result of 4.36 MB/s) or verify only. Nothing called read.
Verify only test -> 17.4 MB/S
If that's the read speed, it seems pretty good (though I've got very little knowledge of USB drives these days)
Good deal. Hopefully the Missus will get me one tomorrow!
Went there today. The offer is expired i'm afraid. One of the employees said there'll probably be another deal in a month or so
Receipt ?
