Honestly not much more to say to this one. Sandwich press's have gotten stupidly expensive again due to covid.

This is the second lowest price its been since 2019 according to camelx3

Its a big boy, can fit 4 sandwiches, or a big piece of bread and has the height adjustment thing on the side,

Big selling point to me is that its flat on top and bottom which in my experience cooks better then the ribbed top.

I had a good look for sandwich presses and this is the best deal (its about 99-120 on other sites + shipping), all the other sandwich presses had terrible reviews/looked not great/wont last a long time.

Thanks JV can you check its now working.

        Yes it is…

My favourite kitchen appliance, has had years of use and still going strong.

  • +4

These are a great size for toasting wraps. I don't have this brand (just some…bigw? version, not sure) but we use it multiple times a week and I wouldn't be without one.

    • Same, Kmart one is great.

      • +1

Yup - bought an el cheapo one for about $20 from Kmart over five years ago and still going strong. One of the best value purchases I have made … don't need any bells and whilstles.

  • +4

I wish manufacturers made toasted sandwich makers with removable heat plates. Be great to just quickly chuck them in the dishwasher.

      • Amazing! Thank you. Just saw this one listed under “similar items”, it’s a deep fill one and is cheaper.
Now I gotta decide which one to buy.
Breville Ultimate Deep Fill Toastie Maker | 2 Slice Sandwich Toaster | Removable Non-Stick Plates | Stainless Steel | Black [VST082] https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B08927TWYR/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_g…

        • UK import though (and only 2 slice sized)
and the plates are hard to come by/not cheap

@SBOB: Good point, this is the crappy European Breville brand, which is different to Australian/American Breville. The latter is branded Sage in Europe.

edit: Interestingly, the "Visit the Breville Store" links to a Breville store which has the Aussie Breville logo. You can tell the brands by fonts used in the logo (look eg. at "r" in the European vs Aussie, also Sage website for comparison).

      • Also with different plates, so the same device can be a hotplate, grill, sandwich maker, waffle maker etc.

        But that's not manufacturers' concern.

        • No, that's already a thing. Seem to be plenty with different attachments, dunno if they're any good.

          • @Merlict: Yeah, not common and I haven't seen a quality one so far.

    • Don’t put non-stick stuff in the dishwasher unless you want to replace it all the time!

  • Kmart. $29

    • I didn’t realise k-mart sold ones with removable heat plates. I’ll have to check them out.

      • +1

Sorry, no they don't that I'm aware of. But for a basic sandwich press they're $29

        • -1

All the rubbish they sell there is landfill in a month .

          • +5

@popsiee: Been using mine for ages, still going strong.

          • +6

@popsiee: I've had my kmart sandwich press for over five years and use it 2-3 times a week. Pretty good value for something that cost me about $20 at the time.

          • +2

@popsiee: I've used heaps of Kmart appliances for years and had no issues.

            • -4

@dust: Make sure all you folks go to ALDI for appliances to complete the rubbish collection .

    • +1

Tight arse office manager got one and it's trash. It doesn't have the adjustable notches on the side so unless I want to eat pancake sandwich I have to stand there and hold it up. Annoying for heating up breakfast pizza.

      • Totally agree with this. The adjustable notches on the side make a big difference. I have the crappy one at home and I just stack a couple of empty glasses ( or whatever I could find) to hold the lid up.

  • Only showing $152.88

    • +1

yep, looks like amazon stock sold out

      • that stinks. i wanted one

I think that the airfryer is way better than sandwhich pressers. Can anyone convince me otherwise?

    • +1

..You make sandwiches in an air fryer?

      • Yes, the cheese melts and it gets way more crispy. It's also more energy efficient as heat is contained vs those sandwhich toasters that blast out heat. It also comes with a timer (my old sandwhich toaster had none).

Edit: cheap airfryers can be washed in dishwasher too. I noticed cheap sandwhich toasters are fixed.

        • It's also more energy efficient as heat is contained vs those sandwhich toasters that blast out heat.

direct contact heat from sandwich press surfaces would be a more efficient method that convection (despite the fact your comparisons is kind of wrong)

    • +2

Completely different tools. Like comparing a fork to a knife. For cutting? Yes a knife is way better. For general eating? Surely a fork.

      • Metaphor aside, why should I get a sandwhich presser?

      • +2

I use my kettle instead of a sandwich press as it offers multiple temperature options, which a sandwich press does not…

        • If you like making toasted sandwhichs, yeah for sure.

    • -2

Can't toast a sandwich in an Airfryer,
or reheat pizza, you might get away with warming up a Frozen Pie, maybe.

Can cook Nuggets and Fries in a Sandwich Press.

      • +2

I've never used an Airfryer but from all conversations i've had, their best use IS reheating pizza.

    • How does it press the sandwich?

  • Bought a Sunbeam here a few years ago for $19.

  • +3

Have had this since 2011 - used almost every day and sometimes multiple time in a day.

Still going strong! We make sure to give it a quick damp paper towel wipe after each use.

  • Has anyone got a good bargain alternative?

    • Honestly mate, I had a good look couldn't find anything better for a bargain. This was the best I could find.

  • Available again. Dispatches in 5 days.

    Edit: Gone again.

    • Correct was the same.

    • +1

I haven't been able to find stock of this one anywhere, though. I was really excited to see Amazon doing it - and for a great price - so bummed that I missed it.

      • Didn't realise it was in hot demand, was 99 reduced to 79.

  • A classic design, mine one been using over 10 years and still going strong.

Only thing needs to be improved is a built-in on/off switch.

  • +1

If I said I cook steak/ eggs/ onions/ bacon and sausages on this at work daily, would that upset George Foreman.
Oh and only him and the onions can make me cry.
It does a great job and water/ paper towels clean up the fat held.

  • Dam. Missed this. Was looking at the 2 slice and no stock then the 4, but only just checked the deals

  • The Breville Adjusta Grill & Press, for chicken, burgers, bacon, and snags, so much easier to clean than this.

  • Paid $89 for this model a couple of years back and honestly would do it again. Thing is used a couple of times a week and still going strong. Can recommend.

  • Life hack share for this style of adjustable height sandwich press is to reheat pizza!

Set the height just above the toppings and you end up getting perfectly crispy base and melted cheesey toppings. I find it works better than reheating in the oven which tends to dry the base out a bit sometimes for me anyhow.

  • Does anyone have this ?

    Any good ? Similar ?
