Hisense TV Adding Disney Plus

Got my daughter a Hisense 32a4g TV for Christmas and was trying to put Disney Plus on it but it can’t find it on TV to add.

This TV was only purchased end of 2021 and Disney Plus been around much longer and cause it’s a popular app I'm puzzled why I’m not able to add it or find it. A quick search it’s only available for one brand of Hisense TV, surely not?
It is a smart TV obviously and uses vidm.

Vidaa? There's your problem, Hisense sucks.

Hisense TVs are good, but the smart part of them is bad. Better off getting your daughter an Apple TV if she uses other Apple gear, or even if she doesn't, imo Apple TV is the best and easiest to use box. Your custom boot loader Nvidia shield setup may impress you and your mates, but your daughter might appreciate a device made for real humans to use.

Or get a firestick for $59 with Prime

      Just as easy to use…

An Nvidia Shield doesn't need a custom boot loader, but is still the best media player.. and my 9yo can operate it

      • Killing an app on an Apple TV is as easy as it is on iPhone, two gestures, one to open the switcher and another to flick the app away to kill it. On Firestick you have to exit the app, go up, go up, go up, go right, click, go down, go down, click, go down, click, click, click, then click to go back, and back, and back. Like the Hisense software the Firestick wasn't really designed for humans. You pay less, but you get much less.

We get it. You hate firestick and probably just hate Android as well.

          • @MS Paint: I own two fire sticks. I just don't use them because they are a PITA to use.

Why do you need to kill an app? Do they freeze on Apple TVs?

        • $59 vs $250 though

      • I do have a spare fire stick but plan using it for the projector and other fire stick we use on an older tv.
The reason I got this brand was they are supposed to be good and being smart it’s not very smart if you can’t use or add Disney plus.
If I’m able to add Disney plus to an older Apple TV then great as have 2 of them I could use for that.

    • We do have Apple TV devices but they are years old now and can no longer get YouTube and unsure if you can even add or get Disney plus on it?

      • The really old Apple TV devices are outdated, Apple hasn't sold them for years. All the new Apple TVs since the form factor change years ago have all the new apps.

        • But can’t you not add Disney plus to the Apple TV?

I have a Hisense tv (55M7000UWG) and was able to add Disney+ channel no worries. It was available in the smart apps to add.

Update the firmware. I have a 75Q7, it recently had a firmware update and Disney+ came with the update.

    • I tried updating FireWire but says it’s upto date?

      • Firmware or operating system?

        • +1

          Firmware im sure

  • Going by google the a7g model is only one that can use Disney plus app I have Hisense 32a4g so not sure if this has changed recently. Tv was only purchased late 2021 crazy Disney plus is not an app you can use or add yet.

  • Yes, this was a big reason I had to take Hisense off the list of options (absence of Disney plus), such a shame as they seem to have good bang for your buck TVs.
And I know I could just plug in a device to get additional apps, but my thought is if I'm spending money buying a smart TV I want to do away with those other devices.

But good news! This is quoted from Hisense Aus site as of November 24 2021:

"Right now,  Disney+ is only available on the Hisense A7G Smart TVs with VIDAA U5. The app will become available on the wider range of Hisense TV’s with VIDAA U5 in the coming weeks. Those wanting to download it will automatically receive an update that includes the Disney+ app over the coming weeks. "

Im genuinely interested as to why you would exclude Hisense along with its potential hundreds of dollars in savings just because of the "smart" TV functionality, when you can add your own separate device for $60-$250 that will be better than any "smart" TV on the market

EDIT: Read the rest of your comment properly, you want to do away with separate devices. Fair enough I suppose but its the wrong approach in my experience. Buying the best bang for buck panel you can get and adding a proper streaming device is going to result in a nicer experience.

      • Yeah, I do understand where you are coming from too and I'm not saying it's the wrong approach to have a separate streaming device… to be honest with a more polished OS etc… and comments from others it would be a good experience.
I have had an apple TV and chromecast and whilst good… again… I dont know, in my head and from experience with very capable smart TVs… I love the idea of grabbing one remote and just going for it.
But again, your opinion is a very valid one for saving bucks.

  • Does it come with FreeView Plus?

I need to install it in a room without a TV antenna cable connection, don't watch free-to-air TV often but FreeView Plus would do the trick when required…
