Hi OzBargain peeps,
Hope you're all well :)
On Monday – Tuesday night my car was entered (I’m certain I locked it, but there’s no damage on entry), and my Blackbvue dr750s-2ch was stolen :'( and some other low value stuff.
I've made a police report, but it's very unlikely that the person will be caught and this irks me the most, followed by the loss of my Blackbvue…
Just glad they didn't check my boot as there was over $200 of new fishing gear there.
So now I want to get an camera system to record inside the car, and a alarm system. So I'm looking for help on what I should buy to achieve this.
On AliExpress, I've looked at tiny cameras with night vision, micro SD, and Wi-Fi. I'm thinking of getting two cameras and connect them via Wi-Fi to a old phone that’ll record the footage that I'll hide in the car.
Alternatively, I do have a T’eyes CC3 Android head unit that I might be able to connect the cameras to record. I'm guessing the T’eyes head unit would only uses less than 10w of power, so that shouldn't be much of a drain on the battery. However I'm not sure how this would all be possible – if someone knows how I would love to know.
Note, that I know those cheap little cameras on AliExpress do have micro SD slots to record to, however I wanted to record to a device via wifi just in case the thief takes the SD cards.
P.s. my car is a Toyota Corolla 2013 Ascent Sedan.
Thanks for reading.
Cheers,
Wystri Warrick
I'm not sure what a security camera will achieve; it most likely would not prevent someone stealing from your car.
Same with an alarm, but it may deter some.
