Genuinely like to see how many places this is sold for $309.95

    • +2

no where, its like 138 on another site

  • I believe $149 is the typical \ standard price, so a decent savings

  • -4

Aldi got one for 30 bucks ! This can't be 3x better

    • Where? I can never find any special buys these days.

    • +1

You'd be better off using sandpaper to shave rather than that.

  • just got mine yesterday (gold one on ebay) . it gives much better shaving but more noise comparing to my old Philips rotary PT937

    • +1

does anyone actually care about the noise level for shaving?

    • I've been using this for a couple of weeks now and find that I don't get good shaving performance at all. Trying to gauge if it is an issue with my unit or just how it goes.

I find that I have to pass over the same skin many many times to get it to pick up all of the hairs. And not talking about short hairs either, some of the ones that are being missed are a good 5-8 mm in length.

Do I have to press harder? Something else?

  • FYI

WES9068 Replacement Blade $45 on SS, $30 on Amazon (import, need prime and $49 spend)

WES9087 Replacement Foil $45 from SS, $31 on Amazon (import as above)

  • standard price is 138 in another online store, don't believe that huge inflated price lol

How does it compare to Braun Series 5 50-B1000S Electric Shaver, Wet Dry, Rechargeable, Cordless
    https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/aw/d/B08M4RZGYW

  • how is this compared to braun series 7 as sold in David jones for $178 ish?

    • I bought the Braun Series 7 a few weeks ago. My god it's the best shaver I've ever used. I've had previous Braun versions and also Panasonic but this is the bees knees. My face is smooth as a baby's bum afterwards. I also use King of Shaves Shave Oil which I did previously with my last Braun and Panasonic but this is on another level.
If I had to find a bad point, it would be that the trimmer is no longer part of the shaver and has to be clicked on once you remove the blades. Other than that it's great.

Thanks, bought one. I have a 6 year old Panasonic 5 blade electric shaver, which is still going perfectly fine. But instead of replacing the blades, I thought let’s try this new one.

    • Same here. Once used 5 blades, you wouldnt want to use anything less though.

    • How did you get the blades to last that long? My last couple of Panasonic's wore the blade's out after about 8 months. Absolute rubbish.

    • I'm in same boat - sick of paying $100+ for replacement foils so would give this a go if its within 10% of peformance of the 5-blade version. Also my battery is going, so need a replacement either way.

Anyone used both, so as to comment on comparing the two?

  • Hi everyone, is there a container for cut hairs? i have been using $40 shaver that all cut hairs go into a container.

    • +1

The head of the shaver detaches from the body. Also the foil and razor seperate. No container but a catchment between the foil and body under. Just needs a rinse or bang it out

  • I wonder how well this will shave a pair of middle aged balls?

    • Not well at all

    • It'd shave the balls off not hair 😁

  • +1

Qualifies for one of those eBay plus $5 off vouchers too

    • I think the cashback won't work with coupon though

  • Crap. Paid $149 for this at Shaver Shop in DFO during boxing day sales. I could have sworn they were selling the OralB Io8 for $199 too, but last time I looked it was back up to $299.

    • Oh yea they sold io8 for 200 for a while alright. I bought it. Now its back to 300.

      • Was it that price at all Shaver Shops or just the ones in DFO?

        • all

          • @DrScavenger: My 2nd 8000 battery just died. I bought a double pack and both didn't last that long…about 3 years (was an amazon uk import). CBF trying to solder a new battery. Guess will wait for the next sale on io8 then

  • Anyone got opinions on Panasonic vs Braun. I have an old Braun 7 series. Foil keeps breaking at $50 a pop. Super coarse and sensitivity skin, shaving stubble daily.

I think I need to start wet shaving, but definitely don't want to buy another foil for my current shaver.

    • +1

Old Braun 7 still the best I've ever had, the new Braun 9 not as good FYI (I think the new 7 has the same foil design as 9 now)

      • Thanks, this is helpful. I might try something else or go the new 7 instead of the 9 pro.

        • I think Braun has a satisfaction guarantee where if you're not happy you can return within 90 (?) days.. may be worth a try?

I'm happy with replacing the foils on my old 7 because it just performed better than the 9, however now they've changed the 7 not sure if it the new 7 is a good as the old one.. RIP.

          • +1

@bdl: My old one uses the 70s cassette

    • +2

Go the new Braun Series 7. Best shave I've ever had.

      • Awesome appreciate the advice

    • I have this Panasonic model, best shaver I’ve ever used. Tempted to get and store a second one.

Thanks I have one of these and it works very well how these guys should be reported for false advertising

  • Can you control the length of the shave with this to keep a bit of stubble or is it only useful to clean shave?
