Need to Earn 50,000 Qantas Points in 6 Weeks

Need to collect another 50k Qantas points by the end of Feb to unluck Points Club Plus.

Don't think it's enough time for a new credit card with sign up bonus - are there other easy ways to earn a lot of points in a short time frame?

Any thoughts on the value of Points Club Plus?

Thanks,
Jesho

  • no family members willing to share their points with you?

      Wouldn’t count towards points club.

I’ve got points club plus, but with no desire to travel anywhere its not doing me much good. Was given a $50 and $100 hotel voucher, but again no plans to go anywhere. If you’re travelling a bit, the lounge access might be useful, if the lounges are open.

If you’re desperate for 50,000 points, grab some wine with bonus points offers from qantas wine.

This - wine, or take up insurance (home/car/health).

Do you have an Everyday Rewards account linked to your Qantas account?

If you don’t have an Everyday Rewards account, you can sign up for one here and earn 1500 points as a sign-up bonus (equivalent to 750 Qantas points).

A relatively fast way of earning Everyday Rewards points is through gift card bonus points deals at Woolworths or BIG W. (However, I suggest only you go down this route if you actually want these gift cards and have a use for them.)

    • If you or a family member are considering a major Apple hardware upgrade, I suggest you consider purchasing Apple gift cards. They’re currently earning 20x Everyday Rewards points (or more relevant to your situation, 10x Qantas points) per $1 spent at Woolworths. If you purchase $2000 in Apple gift cards during this deal, you’ll get 40,000 Everyday Rewards points, which is equivalent to 20,000 Qantas points. You could take it to extremes like one OzBargainer and purchase $36,000 in Apple gift cards… Anyway, even if you’re not planning a major hardware upgrade soon, Apple gift cards don’t expire, so you could hold onto the gift cards now and the redeem them later.

    • There may be 20x bonus points deals on TCN or Ultimate gift cards at Woolworths or BIG W within the next six weeks, which may have more stores you’d be interested in.

Or if you need to pay the ATO… jk

Apple gift cards are what I buy a lot of despite not actually using them myself. Of your close friends and family, at least a quarter will be upgrading their phones this year. Throw in iPads, Macs and everything else Apple sells and you really shouldn’t struggle to find $5k worth of items to purchase on someone else’s behalf. Even if you have to entice them with a small discount it should pale in comparison to the value of the points and lounge access.

      • Good idea, is it easy to resell on marketplace?

I was pretty keen on the new m1 air but ended up with the lenovo yoga carbon which is okay. Getting the air would have been perfect for this.

  • red energy and qantas health insurance have large sign up bonuses plus the wellbeing app

  • do you have any shares? get 10000 points transferring them
    https://www.superhero.com.au/qantas/

    • Thanks, I do actually. Do you have any experience with superhero, are they any good?

      • +1

Don't do it - Superhero aren't CHESS supported, so your shares are held by a custodian.

        • Sorry - what does that mean? Thanks for the input though.

@jesho: means if they go bust you're up shite creek without a paddle

  • You could just top up the 50000 points if you were desperate:
    https://www.qantas.com/au/en/frequent-flyer/use-points/top-u…

In saying that though, it's bad value and you could get more points for less by buying from QANTAS wine or using a sign-up bonus.

  • I had never even heard of this!

Qantas wine is the best points/dollar ratio, and it credits quickly.

Buy 3 of these and 1 of this

Total cost: $1,289.94 and you get 50,000 bonus Qantas Points, 24 bottles of high-end red wine (resell? enjoy?) and at least 1,289 extra Qantas Points or 3,867 Qantas Points if you're a Premium Wine member.

    • Really appreciate the effort, thank you. I'm not much of a drinker but this might be a good way to get into it, I suppose.

    Slightly cheaper:

    2 x SC Panell Grenache Shiraz 2017 @ $432 per case = 40,000 points
    1 x Taylors Family Shiraz + Cabernet Dozen @ $270 per case = 10,000 points
Total spend $1,134 for 24 bottles + 50,000 bonus points + 1,134 base points + any other CC / Offer Points you can find + stack

    • Thank you! Will probably go down the wine paths. I know they are expensive, but are these good drops? Would they go up in value if we held onto them? Sorry complete wine noob here.
