Kogan and Customer Support, Isn't that what they call an oxymoron?

  • Nope, ported from aldi yesterday, pretty much instant

  • Had a similar thing from Boost to Kogan,
Never received a porting confirmation text.

Called up Kogan/followed them up on socials and they played dumb and sent through the confirmation text immediately.

Definitely get onto them if it hasn't happened in 3-4 business hours.

    • tried to call them today but they were too busy so i requested a call back without losing my spot in the queue. Never got a call back.

You need to keep your old SIM in your phone to receive the transfer SMS. The Kogan Mobile activation process tells you to put in your new SIM too early. If you put the Kogan SIM in before receiving the transfer text, try putting your old SIM back in and see if it turns up.

  • I ported over on New Years Day Public holiday, as well from amaysim to Kogan. Started the port in the morning, around 10am, and it was all done by night, around 7pm.
    Very seamless process.

That is, unlike porting from Catch Connect…..

  • Here, students, is a great example of foreshadowing before the OP becomes aware of the ongoing misery they are about to suffer in this story…

  • I had this exact same issue as well back in late December 2021. Managed to call up Kogan customer support but was told there was nothing they could do if I was unable to receive the text. They couldn't even manually send me a code or provide the code over the phone and instead suggested I call up Amaysim as "it must be an issue on their end".

Called up Amaysim and they advised nothing wrong with my service and that it was a Kogan Mobile issue. In the end I just gave up trying to port to Kogan and instead ported to a different provider.

    • yup, the exact same thing was said to me. After talking to the third person from Kogan they told me to tell amaysim to lodge an investigation with the number porting team which will take 3-5 business days. My plan was due to expire in between so amaysim were kind enough to provide me with $10 credit, hopefully that'e enough to get me through to a resolution.

Amaysim online chat was great to deal with, can't say the same for Kogan support.

If you still aren't able to resolve the issue, you can call up Kogan again and they will offer to refund you for the voucher (especially if the voucher is nearing the expiry date).

        • thanks for the head up
