  • I use Castrol EDGE Diesel DPF Engine Oil - 5W-30, LL 5 C3 for my diesel DPF car. Is there any difference between Nulon and Castrol one?

    • I believe they both meet the same specifications of ACEA C3 so should be pretty similar. You should be able to check manufacturer specifications in your owners manual

      • Spec is one thing, yes, both has VW 502 505 (C3) standard, however, is cheaper one replaceable with Castrol Edge LL oil is my question. Castrol one is original oil that AUDI uses for my car BTW.

        • +1

Ah okay. Yes you should be able to change oil brands as they are the same viscosity and spec, car manufacturers pay oil companies to have them as the preferred oil.

          • @hsp: Thanks for sharing mate. No much diesel oil on sales normally.

            • @GoodDealDave: Just some food for thought that sometimes dealerships will use different also, Im not to sure on AUDI but i know with Mazda for instance between different dealerships will have different brands.

So its always worth just going outside of that scope and finding what suits you best, Personally i use Nulon. I just like the fact its regularly on stock in any store I visit and ive stuck with it for years.

    • Switch to C4 (low ash) to help the DPF.

  • Can I use diesel engine oil in petrol cars?

    • Yes I think.

    • +2

Yes and in a lot of cases it is better

Often has a lot more zonc and antiwear additives as diesels are hard on oil

  • +1

Note that some diesel car engines/brands require ACEA C1 instead of C3. It is because of a tighter DPF, so do check which one your car requires.

    • I would use C4 over C1 if you want your engine to last and you have a DPF. (Higher minimum HTHS)

  • Nulon has the euro range too, what's the difference between this and the euro one? My car recommend euro spec

    • +1

      VW 507 spec

      • -1

Yes, that's the euro one. What's the difference between this special and the euro spec oil?

  • I have been price matching + 10% this with my local SCA for the past 6 months, for anyone who needs VW 507.

Thanks OP, it rarely drops below $80. I've been using this for years in my 4WD.

  • Anyone knows if my VW Polo 2013 can use Castrol MAGNATEC Stop Start 5W-30 5 Litre? The website said its not compatible but I dunno how it's different to other compatible 5W-30 like Castrol EDGE Engine Oil 5W-30 5 Litre Limited Edition Mighty Car Mods.

  • Volkswagen Diesel vehicles require Oil which is VW 504.00/507.00 complaint. Nulon has a Euro-compliant version for those with VW Diesel engines.
