    They are offering refunds.

An email is being sent this morning to customers regarding this issue. This was a miscommunication on our side, which we fully acknowledge and take responsibility for.

We are offering every customer a refund as a result of this error.

    So to clarify:
    1 kit = 1 tester unit;
    5 kits = 5 tester units
    and so on.

Our apologies again on the oversight.
If you would like a refund please just confirm and we will process it within 24 hours.

    Thank you
    Rapid Response Testing

Seems like they are planning to actually open the test pack and split it into two.

    • Thanks for sharing the update.

Seems like they are planning to actually open the test pack and split it into two.

      Isn't that illegal?

      • interesting to know..
anyone confirmed via email if that's what they're doing?

    • +2

Damn, definitely getting a refund then. Terrible price

      • It's pretty annoying, the delivery price (and delivery delay risk) makes this excessive.

    • I'll have to check my junk folder, since that's where the order confirmation went (obviously my e-mail client has a better idea on these things than I do).

  • Also got an email stating the same as above they stuff this one big time

  • +4

I don't have a huge problem with all this so far. Small businesses have to start somewhere. But they are now only providing 1 test for $15. Significantly diminishing the deal and the way they handled this "miscommunication" leaves a lot to be desired. Plus the postage is quite substantial.

    • +2

This would be in excess of the legislation stating resale cannot be >120% of cost price…. (big fines, 66000!)

Yeah I’m definitely going to send an email off to ACCC and see what they say

        • keep us posted

          • +1

@capslock janitor: I got stock standard response same as everyone else, so far. I said I wanted a refund and submitted a report to ACCC, stating bait and switch. I’m expecting literally nothing to come if it though

        • Also send an email to Chiropractors board.
          https://www.chiropracticboard.gov.au/

          I will be

    • +3

Essentially bait and switch, advertise and sell as "Pack of 2" and change and deliver only 1 …. nup.

  • I think OP should start a Consumer Protection Agency for OZB .

Some pharmacy selling $17 per 1 test kit and it is not in box too. Looks pike the government really given up to their operation.

    • Yeah…pretty poor response from our govts. Obviously somebody in the chain is taking an extra markup, and these are necessary goods.

  • I just sent this

    “ Hi,

I am seeking clarification that the 5x boxes of 2x tests is now 1x test out of the box? As per your website? Even though the pictures state it’s two tests per box?

If this is the case, I want a refund.

    Thanks”

    • Should add the link above about the measures by the government to stop gouging and see what their response is HAHA

      https://www.health.gov.au/ministers/the-hon-greg-hunt-mp/med…

      • +1

That’s my next response if they clarify this is the case

      • +2

I got the stock standard response everyone is getting. I’ll say refund me but I have also sent off a report to ACCC stating bait and switch. Included screenshot of website pictures and my order lol.

CHECK THE REVIEWS PEOPLE COMPLAINING THAT THEY ARE GETTING ONE TEST IN THE BOX AND ONE IS BEING REMOVED BY COMPANY,

    • +4

OMG REALLY?!!?! WE HAD NO IDEA, THANK YOU FOR LETTING US KNOW!

    • +1

Nobody has received their orders yet. Those reviews are just speculation.

  • I have received an email yet.

  • +2

    Ordered a 5 "pack". I better get 10!

EDIT. Looks like 5. I will cancel. $15 at our local Coles now.

  • They have just changed the image on the website to hide the 2 pack bit! So dodgy!

    • Very dodgy indeed. Hopefully they will provide full refund for those including me who got affected.

      • I have asked for a refund.

    • Yeah after I and many others pointed it out.

I have screenshotted before it was changed.

      • same. :-) Even order says 2.

        • Same lol. I submitted ACCC and asked for refund

    Hi Novak,

We are emailing to clarify a point regarding your recent purchase of Test Kits.

The Test Kits are single tests, not 2 tests per kit. The image used was a stock image which has led to mis-communication of the product. Our online team flagged this issue as soon as it was identified, and as our stock was almost entirely depleted. For this we do apologise.

So to clarify, please see below:
    1 kit = 1 tester unit
    5 kit = 5 tester units
    20 kit = 20 tester units
    50 kit = 50 tester units

As mentioned, we acknowledge this oversight on our end, and would like to offer a full refund to anyone that would like to cancel their order as a result of this. We understand the sensitivity of the times we are in, and only would like to help communities.

If you would like a refund on your order, please reply by tomorrow and we will process your refund within 24 hours, to which you will then receive an email notification confirming the processing of your refund.

If you would like to continue with your order, then no action is required on your end.

    Thank you kindly,
    Rapid Response Testing Team

    As a result I’m voting a NEG

    • Classic bait and switch tactics.

  • +1

Got e-mail clarifying and offering refund. Have requested refund…this surely must make it borderline price gouging.

    • +1

They know a lot of people won't cancel so they are really SCUM .

      • Obviously scummy. If you're running a website for the sole purpose of selling a single product, it's not exactly hard to make it clear what people are getting. They need to be reported to the ACCC.

It's just astounding how many people upvoted this crap.

      • why wouldnt they cancel?

        • +1

Miss the e-mail, can't be bothered, or are desperate to get hold of some tests, and decided they'll pay that much anyway.

  • +1

Just got an email advising they 'Made a mistake' and they were only single test kits. If you don't respond with a request for refund they will assume you wish to proceed.

    • Interesting, my confirmation emails says:

Rapid Antigen Home Test KIT - 2 Pack × 1

      No further email.

      • +2

        It’s coming

        • Got it this morning.

          • @Seaword: Is it in original packaging from the manufacturer?

            • @Contrice: Sorry should have been more clear. Got the email re the cancellation.

  • +1

What is the RRP on these tests? The Fed Gov policy is strange as it seems to apply to people who buy tests 'at retail outlets' and then on-sell for more than 120% of price… I imagine this company is not obtaining these tests at a retail outlet or 'in a retail transaction' as per the official instrument, whatever that means - https://www.legislation.gov.au/Details/F2022L00019.

    • +1

RRP is pretty meaningless these days.

They sell for about $7.50 wholesale. So a 120% markup is exactly $16.50 which is actually the exact price of the 5 pack including delivery.

So I think this website is price grouching with a classic bait and switch tactic, which happens to make the product the maximum permissible price (per government requirement).

  • I got the “mistake” email and have requested refund. Luckily I paid through PayPal so have the option of an PayPal dispute if the refund doesn’t go through

I wouldn’t reply, just hammer him with PayPal disputes

    Bait and Switch

    Scam

  • Just got my email offering a refund. I've accepted the refund.
Extremely short response time to accept the refund is concerning.

    • As opposed to a long response time

      • +1

Less than 24 hrs to confirm a refund otherwise they'll assume you're happy to pay double the price per test is nothing but a scam in my eyes.

        • Rather short than long in any case. Esp for CS

  • Got the email, went the refund. Seems to be best bet

  • Thanks all, found email in spam folder, 24hrs to request refund. Scam

  • Got the email too. Have asked for a refund

  • +3

So since I payed through PayPal and have received the email saying if I want a refund or not. What if I just play dumb and pretend I have missed the email since I was busy. So once the item has been sent and I have received the item, dispute and ask for a refund stating that they falsely advertised and that they switch the description and image an hour after I have purchased the RAT. So pretty much a Bait and switch. If successful, I would get my money back and that and I will also get to keep the RAT.

Do you guys think this would work? It's pretty scummy of them that rather than cancelling the orders automatically since they made a mistake, they rather ask everyone to either tell them that you want a refund or that they will proceed with their bate and switch item. This little scenario of mine could actually happen, so I thought that I might aswell take advantage of the situation and scam those scammers first. Considering I have screenshots of before and after they have switched the Web page of theirs.

Edit 1: To be fair, there are times when I don't check my emails for a week so me missing their refund email rather than cancellation could have been possible.

Edit 2: They should have ask everyone to email them if we want to proceed or that they will just cancel the order within 24 hours due to their mistake. Not assume that we would still want it after making the deal pretty terrible considering it's $15 for 1 test and that it's only 89% accurate. That price also doesn't factor in the shipping cost of $15.

    • +1

Some have said it arrived into spam mail.

No comment on everything else u said lol

      • Yes perfect. I could also play the Spam game against them.

    • +3

Just take the refund and move on. Don’t stoop to their levels.

  • Seller has contacted me offering a refund as the packs aren't 2 per kit as flagged here:

    Email received and refund requested.

I would like to cut them a break and believe it was a mistake as they are offering a refund and they would have known the outcome and bad reviews, so i dont think a business would set out to burn themselves. But……at the same time you have a site that sells 1 product and your telling me you cant get the description and picture right?

    • +1

I was in the same mindset until I realised they literally only sold one product

  • I also requested refund. Whats a reasonable timeframe to have the refund appear on PayPal?
Wanna keep an eye on this and lodge dispute ASAP if they are late in refunding.

    • +1

Asked for refund and mentioned if i don't get refund by tomorrow will consider it as you do not want a refund and would file a complaint. :)

    • +1

      Update: I got the refund.

      • +1

        i also got the refund.

        • I was silly enough to use Google Pay, so who knows how long I need to wait. Did you get an email showing the refund was processed?

          • @boxall: Rapid sent an email as well as Email from PP.

  • Another perk of p'pal = refunded in real-time

  • +1

They deleted the product page after the wave of bad reviews haha

  • I asked for a refund and commented that it must have been a horrid day. Received this response plus an immediate PayPay refund.

"Its out first product launch on an ecommerce platform. This has been an awful experience for all.
We appreciate your understanding and human compassion during these difficult times.
We have processed that refund and hope we can be of help in the future.
Feel free to reach out to us if we can help in any other way"

  • Can confirm that I received a full refund.

  • Haven’t got mine yet though did get a reply saying they were going to

  • +2

Also received full refund via PayPal @ 8:17pm last night. Credit to vendor for doing the right thing.

  • +4

No email acknowledging the refund and no refund.

    • +1

      same

    • +1

Got acknowledgment but they said PayPal when I used Google Pay. They are confused.

  • +1

give these guys a break. most likely made a simple mistake on the listing and because was listed on ozbargain was absolutely hammered with orders.

they have been very helpful with me but are working through hundreds of orders.

    • +4

most likely made a simple mistake on the listing

In most cases I'd tend to agree with you, however, they sell just one product. They have one single page displaying one single product and they couldn't get it right….WTF!

      • i tend to look for the best of people.

if they sold it for the price advertised they would be making a loss as they are likely buying for about $7 a test. the wholesaler are the ones who are making a killing on this.

        • +2

Indeed, the profits on a single unit are without doubt tiny so I don't think this profit-making strategy. It was however reckless and incompetent, particularly at a time when so many are desperate to buy such tests.

          • +1

@ash2000: agree with that - likely incompetent. if not on ozbargain would have had a few sales and worked it out. unfortunately due to being put on this site probably had a few thousand orders…

  • Just got another email:

This email is a follow up to confirm we are receiving all the request regarding our previous email (attached below for reference).

We are waiting for finalisation of the orders and refunds before shipping.
We will keep everyone posted with shipping information as quick as possible.

    I still don't know if I'm getting a refund!

    • same here. responded to each email. still no refund

  • Hi All,

I requested a refund yesterday and they did not respond but sent me a follow-up email this afternoon. Rather than waiting any further, I logged in to my Paypal account and clicked on Recent Activity, transaction and then "Report a Problem". Uploaded a copy of my reply to the seller and wrote a brief description of this issue. I received an instant refund from Paypal, without waiting for the seller to respond. If anyone wants to try this.

  • +1

I replied immediately asking for refund, and the refund went through late last night.

Be clear in your reply e-mail. Do something like adding “Please Refund” into the beginning of the subject line (as well as the body) so that they can easily see it and it’s not ambiguous. I expect they may have received quite a few messages about this.

I had also queried them earlier in the day…so that’s two e-mails they got from me.
