Lego VIP Rewards Coins (Space, Castles, Pirates etc) are in stock again in the Rewards Centre for 1,150 VIP pts per coin.

As I understand it, once redeemed, you get a code to use with a physical purchase and they are shipped out one per purchase (i.e. you need 5 subsequent individual purchases to get all 5, but they are locked in for you, at least in theory, once redeemed - see https://www.brickfanatics.com/lego-sold-too-many-amelia-earh…).

They have been sold for $65 on ebay (for the Space coin), so definitely worth the 1,150 points, and were sold out quite quickly the last time. Plus with the Tiger GWP its good time to spread out the purchases (although arguably Amazon/TRU would have discounted sets and Lego.com doesn't).

Thank you OP! Been waiting ages to get one of these.

The main problem is getting them out 1 order at a time within 60 days .
I have a ton of prints I about to be forced ( unless I want them to expire ) to do about 7 orders :)

So forget Bitcoins - Lego coins are, all the way to a future of happiness and wealth.

    • Some lego sets are ridiculously lucrative over time

Some, not many though. Assuming they don't do a Taj Mahal on you.

  • Site not working?

    • indeed, and seems intermittent - maybe a lot of people are logging on to redeem? (it worked just now)

  • Damn, just made a order yesterday for the tiger gwp

These do have value. It took a while but I sold the Lego Logo coin for $69.95 with postage back in September.

Currently have enough points to redeem for three coins, plus the case. With a little bit of work it ends up so much better value than credit towards bricks. Thanks OP, wouldn't have known these were available otherwise.

    • I wouldn't hold the cream price of the $70 too much to heart .
Mario coins started higher than that and have gone down a huge % .

True, with a second run these will not be worth nearly as much. Maybe more like $40. But still better than what the face value of the points is worth if you hold them for a while. With more retro themes like Space and Pirates, these are better than Mario coins by default. To me, Mario is for kids not AFOL collectors.

        • Agree, the 'baseline' value I would compare this to would be the 1,150 points which is about $10. Plus the fact that you first need to accrue the 1150 pts (as opposed to buying the coin for $10) would add a slight premium.

  • How do you get these out within 60 days though? Wtf do you order from lego shop in 6 different orders?

    • buy and resell , that's my plan

      • do you know how much is shipping just to get 1 coin out per order? I got 1 full set that I wouldn't mind keeping

Why Lego doesn't let you redeem all in one order is stupid

          make you spend…!!! lol

          • +1

@CDG: Thats how they get you… to spend hundreds of dollars in exchange for a couple of souvenir coins. They got me.

        • +1

          For me below $149 is $12.50 .
          Above free .
So if you want to get out this set with free postage it will be a total spending of like $895 - $1000 range .
That is 5 coins and the case .

          • @popsiee: Yeah, that does explain the aftermarket price of a set - the barrier to acquisition (plus having to have accrued the 7,000 pts in the first place).

I think if you are already looking to buy some lego, then the GWP + this as a bonus is worthwhile. Otherwise, you could still buy something low value + shipping and in theory, break even.

Otherwise, as CDG said, reselling is the way to go. It really depends on how much value you place on obtaining this vs the effort involved.

    • The purchases required to get all six (with free shipping) is a stretch, that's for sure. It is a bit of a rort that you can't redeem them all in one order.

  • We've been shopping at the Lego store in Coomera (Dreamworld) which if I understand, has its own seperate rewards system which is a shame

    • The same is true of the Lego Certified stores (eg, Bondi, and Broadway).
I almost ordered from the DreamWorld store before Christmas, but I noticed the rewards points weren't as good as the Lego.com points, and also they were charging $20 delivery for an item that would have qualified for free shipping from Lego.com.

Alas, I accepted the free gift from Lego.com which meant I didn't get credited with VIP points - it was the skiiing Santa which was ~$5 on Amazon :'(

I've redeemed the coins but might wait a few weeks to try get them shipped in case Lego opens up to allow them all to be redeemed in one order. Alternatively I guess you can buy a brick separator per order? Lol. Such a rip off to pay for shipping as well on top

    • Believe me they will never permit multiple codes per order .
They will maximize sales the format it is .

buy this, redeem code and pay shipping $12.50

    repeat 6x

  • $12.50 shipping for a tiny coin and a 1x1 stud. Comn Lego

  • How to redeem the coin can't seem to find it?

    • Once you are logged in & inside the Rewards Centre page, there should be multiple categories that you click "+" to expand. It's under the Collectibles category.
