Rattan Coffee Table $19 (Was $39) In-Store Only @ Kmart

580

I was very pleasantly surprised when this scanned $20 cheaper at the register and had to double-check the web site to see if it was national or not. Out of stock online, your local may have lots or none. 4x units still on the shelf at Kmart Launceston after I took one earlier this morning.

It’s going to be ideal in my home office as a low table to sit some network gear and a large external monitor on it.

Not bad for a pc case, good airflow from each dimension, would 100% recommend to build a pc with this table.

Would make an interesting insurance claims if it catches fire.

i took your advice, but it didn't come with instructions where to put my

      AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO 3975WX 3.5GHz 32 Core 64,
      Seagate FireCuda 530 Heatsink SSD 4TB PCIe Gen4 ×4 NVMe 1.4,
Asus ROG RYUJIN II 360 AIO Liquid CPU Cooler,

        Easy! ;-)

        1. Put them in the box the table came in
        2. Tape up the box
        3. Write on the outside of the box "C/O Ozbargain. 123 Discount Av, Cheapskateville, NSW."
        4. Take to your local post office. Hand to the person. They will ask for some money, hand it to them
        5. In a few short weeks, check back here for further instructions.

In the meantime , enjoy your new coffee table!

I did just that but they said postcode was missing.

            @klownvandamn:

            they said postcode was missing.

            where did it go?

            • @jv: nowhere! I'm waiting for tm32 to provide me with post code as Auspost staff wouldn't accept my package without a post code.

            • @jv: When something's missing you don't know where it is

            • @jv: Where have you been princess? ♥️

              • @Ghosts: On holidays with Dan in WA….

@jv: Give him a slap across the back of his head for me!

        • ok, i will box it up tonight and send it out first thing in the morning. thank you for your help.

    • Was actually thinking this could make do for a DIY mini server rack. https://www.instructables.com/The-$70-IKEA-Mini-Server-Rack/

  • good for a kid train table?

    • It's really quite small so I doubt it.

I bought one and it's quite light so I guess that's a benefit if you want to move it around a bit but I would recommend checking dimensions.

This kind of furniture only looks good in photos, they are cheaply made and poorly assembled. Okay as a temporary setup but not recommended for long term use.

  • +3

Honestly making terrible furniture out of wood like this that gets thrown out would be a major contributor to climate change. Why cut down a tree to make this crap?

Make quality furniture that will last generations.

    • yeah but no one wants a $999 coffee table that the kids will find 'out of fashion' 20yrs down the track.

Further like throwaway fashion this is throwaway furniture. I dont see this as being too bad a deal

$20 if it lasts you 2 yrs its $10 a yr.

I also see this as good stuff for rentals…. ie. use it and when you are asked to vacate you can chuck it to the curb.

welcome to living in syd cum 2022

I don't think this has much solid wood

      • +2

        Mostly chipboard, not even MDF.

        • +2

lol i dont even think qualifies as chipboard, its certainly not mdf… mdf is actually expensive and good

its like compressed carboard with a water resist lamiante coat

i mean this is sub sub ikea quality but… it's going to end up on council cleanup

Quality furnitures are expensive and heavy as hell. I would buy them if I had some permancy in where I live but as a renter who may move between states even, I don't think that's a luxury I can afford. IKEA is brilliant for that, though they are basically throwaway furnitures that you'd likely throw away after few years of usage.

Totally agree that cheap furnitures are awful though.

      • who can really afford heirloom quality furniture made in italy etc.

further these pieces are stuff that you cant have kids near

there's a piece we have that is $5k+ and it has curve glass that cant be replaced and it can barely be moved

        so who wants that?

it sits in a $2.5 mil 6 bed house w/ two people

        this isnt sustainable either

        • +1

There’s plenty of non heirloom quality stuff that won’t break the bank but also won’t blow over if you leave the window open. Kmart shit is the bottom of the barrel, IKEA feels several grades of quality above most Kmart stuff.

        • I used to work at a place that dealt with a lot of older furnitures in various different conditions (things that people will donate so not heirloom stuff like what you mentioned). I think they don't make them like they used to sums it up well.

    • Not everyone can afford $1200 for a coffee table 🥸

If you are looking to buy this and have kids, take a moment and think about it.
It is one of the dangerous product i have ever bought. Got this for covered outside deck. Just used it for a week and disposed. This think had super sharp edges not just at corners. Even the sides are super sharp and edgy. No matter what kind of baby proofing you do , it is going to be useless. Everyone in my family got gashes and cuts in a week.

    Not great quality either.

    • This think had super sharp edges not just at corners. Even the sides are super sharp and edgy

Not possible to sand down the corners and sides/edges?

      • Nope. It chips away easily if you try doing anything. Cheap particle board.

        • counterpoint is that i have a 2yr old and some stuff like this and he opens and closes the kmart spec doors and he's fine

its cheap shit but it aint hurting him

  • It's pretty small and light.

Worth $20 but I wouldn't exactly say its a great piece of furniture.

Perfect in my kids lounge though as I needed something cheap to put a TV on. But I had to anchor the TV to the wall as the table itself is so light.

  • I had this table for a few months. Be aware how sharp its corners are, my legs were cut multiple times walking around it

  • I mean I guess it's a good deal but why wouldn't you pick up a good quality, if not slightly older style table off Marketplace or Gumtree? Also people saying not everyone can afford heirloom furniture - Yes but for a modest amount more you can get something from IKEA that is light years better in design and build quality and will comfortably last perhaps a decade or more. Throw away society is so depressing.
