10 Nook Miles tickets, not 10 Nook Miles. That's worth 20,000 miles!

If you're getting this and are new to Switch, just be aware that this console DOES NOT come with the Animal Crossing New Horizons game. :/

    • +1

Yep, was about to purchase it until I saw that. Might as well just buy the normal one with the Mario game and buy your own skin from a third party.

      • +1

I'd rather get this and buy the Mario game separately.
Can't see a special on the Mario bundle at the moment so probs end up being same price.

    • +7

Cute console, but that's admittedly pretty crazy. Most people would assume they'd be getting the game bundled with the special edition console named after it but I guess not :/

      • That's Nintendo for ya!

    • omg thanks, I did NOT realise that at all and was considering purchasing it, so I'm glad I read the comments!!

RIP everyone who paid more than double RRP for the first lot

  • +2

When I got the email, I genuinely thought that it was 50 dollars off the game

    Is this OLED

    • +10

      No

  • +3

Remember when people bought these for $1000

      • +14

So itā€™s stupider to pay $419 rather than $1000? Ok then

        • +1

Obviously he was good at math's in school.

First day back at work brain.

          • -5

@PainToad: Actually, you are right IMHO.. paying $419 for this now is a bit silly with the oled model out. My oled model only cost me $25 more. Mind you, I think the AC pastel colours are pretty horrific to look at.

Having said that, it was preeeetty dumb that people thought that ACNH was a limited edition console and paid $1000. We all knew they'd keep making it (although now it's been longer than I expected).

    • $1000? Who sold this for $1000? who bought it?

      • It was during the first major lockdown.

Everything was sold out and this console came in and was fresh stock.

The game gained MASSIVE popularity due to lockdown (everyone wanted to play it) and this being "limited" at the time + no stock of the base console, meant it shot up in price.

Who bought it? Regular people looking for a Switch. I sold mine, I had no intention of doing so originally but then people were paying $1000. It just shipped to a random person, not a collector and they contacted me and THANKED me.

You could actually sell the joycon and dock set for $500-600 by themselves. It was truly madness.

    • Now they spend 2000 for ps5s

  • This one or the OLED one?

    • +14

      OLED

Unless you like looking at pastel coloured joycons instead of.. you know.. the screen.

    • +5

I'd go OLED unless you plan to use it exclusively in docked mode.

    • +1

OLED for sure. I canā€™t do back to my OG now

    • -1

I think all the OLED are sold out, but i would still wait for the oled. My kids have both, and everyone wants to use the oled one, lol.

  • +1

damn, i bought a normal neon console thinking i wouldn't be able to get one of these at a later date, when they all sold out last year

  • +3

OLED is much better for the larger screen itself.

  • This at $356 . We should be filled with 15% off gift cards .

    OLED $431

OLED wins only $75 more .

    • In the market of buying the OLED model.
Are there any current 15% off JB HIFI deals or you had some from previous time?

      • +1

Go to TA CR TGG 10% deal for white .
        $539 X .95 suncorp 5% off gc - $49 cashback = $463.05 best price currently going .

  • +6

Strange buying a non-OLED one nowadays.

  • The joycon colours are cool, that'd be about the only reason why I'd consider getting this. But even then, $400 for some controllers hmmmm…

    • If you're patient and have steady hands, you can buy replacement joy con shells from aliexpress. Costs about $30 posted for a pair of the Animal Crossing colours IIRC.

    • Haha if people were to REALLY want this themed pack, and is up for some DIY, they could simply just buy the components here:
      https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4001111601814.html

The Switch Dock likely has a aftermarket PCB board in it, so i recommend switching it out with your original Switch Dock PCB board which is SUPER easy to do.
As for the Switch Backplate and joycons, you will need some steady hands for it.

Can get the whole thing done for less than $80. Might be cheaper if you shop around on aliexpress…… i just did a 2min search haha

      • -4

        hahaā€¦.

        You're an idiot.

How does this help at all if people want to buy a new Switch?

Are you telling them to buy a standard new one and then go through all the effort to swap it over to the Animal Crossing replica parts? Not everyone has the time or skills to do this.

Or are you talking about buying a used one as they aren't much cheaper going for 200-300 (plus $80 in the replacement parts) then the risk of damaging the joycons or other parts and no warranty?

        • +1

Hmm, it was more a suggestion if you already have one. I know of people who sold off their old one to get a themed one… Yes it doesn't make much difference but some people seem to care.

Funny how you felt compelled to call people names as if you are a kid in a school yard.
I simply gave a alternative option if people was looking to reskin a switch they already own.

However as you mentioned about used ones…. some might want to go down the route of finding a unpatched one for $200-300 then doing the mod so they got a Animal Crossing unpatched.

Not sure why anybody would even bother buying this when the OLED version is only slightly more expensive and is overall a more superior console.

  • Thank You! My switch died last week. Perfect timing.

  • +1

Wonder how many of these will end up at cash converters hampstead gardens. They pre-ordered a ton of this as well as ps5's just to scalp them and lied about how they got them.

It was hilarious watching them mark these down from 999 until they got to 599 and they were trying to convicne people they were now losing money

  • +4

For those wondering, Amazon is now $419 on their own.

You should be able to call JB Hi-Fi on 13 52 44 and ask for a price match over the phone with a link for JB Direct. They should send a text message with a link for $419, and then you should be able to use the coupon here to make it $369 :)

    • Thanks doweyy. That worked a treat, you've made a 7 yo who had just saved enough for a Switch Lite Turquoise nice and happy. Saved a further $14 with Lumo JB HiFi vouchers.

      • Excellent to hear that it worked out well :)

    • Unfortunately won't do that for me, they just made the link have this code applied

      • That's a real bummer you couldn't stack the deal. Maybe worth trying again tomorrow in case you get someone different?

    • Last time I asked, they donā€™t price match to Amazon as it doesnā€™t have physical store?

    • This worked a treat for me. Thanks!

  • Came here to post my ā€œuniqueā€ numberā€¦ which is the same. šŸ˜‚
