  • Free shipping Alex? :D

    • These are way under cost - don't force me to live off mi-goreng! :p

  • Does it need anything else to work with an existing VOIP account?

    • You just need a broadband connection & a SIP account with your VoIP provider (like MaxoTel). The base station has an ethernet plug.

      • I am thinking of getting four of them. Can you please ship all four for $13 (shipping is multiplying 13x4 in the cart)? Thanks.

        • +1

          Unfortunately we can't. The cost of express postage is too high. $13 for a 3KG bag (1 unit) or $22 for 5kg bag (up to 3 units).

          If you do want 4 units, the shipping would be a total of $35. ($22 + $13) - simply order it, and then email or post your order number here and I can adjust the shipping.

      • In that case I will buy 3 units for $22 shipping. Thanks.

      • Bought 3. Received email for payment but no order number. I haven't paid yet.

        • +1

          I have adjusted the shipping for you (and the other person that ordered 3)

      • Thanks Alex. Paid for 3 units.

  • What? No fall-back to a landline, eg, if power goes Off?

    Does it work with MyNetFone? Skype? (and… which others?

    Can we download any brochure & manual(s) for it (before ordering)?

    I don't recognise this brand… What was its RRP -and- actual selling price?

    When was ut released to market?

    Where is it made? Is the designer / company Chinese or Japanese or what?

    Can the 3 SIP calls be made to / from -different- VoIP Service Providers (VSPs)?

    Can some or the 3 calls be incoming & some of them be outgoing?

    Any conferencing option? Intercom between local handsets on same base? etc.

    Thanks

    • No fall-back to a landline. It is a VoIP-only Cordless DECT. It works with MyNetFone, but I don't know about Skype.

      It is the Snom M3. There may be a manual online, but we don't have one. It is end-of-life. We have the last remaining stock for Australia and this is it. The box says copyright 2007. They are a German company but I believe it is manufactured in China.

      We have only trialed it on MaxoTel, in which it can do 3 VoIP calls to the same VoIP provider (but different username/passwords). Not sure if it can do multiple providers. Yes, can be incoming or outgoing. Yes, you can intercom local handsets. And 3 way conference

  • From http://www.VoIP-Info.org/wiki/view/Snom+M3:

    (weird text follows, at least it seems so in latest FireFox browser.

    Tip: Try hovering, with mouse/cursor, over currently read paragraph

    "Incompatiblity
    .==============

    There is no documentation about the provisioning. From my reverse engineering it looks to accept the same configuration file as the new incoming Polycom IP200W
    The MWI VoiceMail messages does not seems compatible with Asterisk 1.4, there is no way the phone shows how many messages you've received.

    UPDATE: MWI works with Asterisk 1.4.17. dkaufman
    UPDATE: MWI is still not working fully - numbers of messages not displayed. bcnit
    UPDATE: MWI works with Firmware 2.02 on an Asterisk 1.4.10, for number of new and total messages. OliverCH

    The M3 does not use the same SIP stack as other SNOM phones (3xx), so be aware of a whole new set of bugs.
    The handset doesn't support GSM, so if you want a low bandwidth codec, you'll have to run with iLBC or G.729.
    The base station/handset(s) don't support provisioning in the same way as other Snom equipment.

    Problems
    .========

    gmaoret - With Elastix 0.9.2 (I don't know with other distributions) when a call is made to a busy or unavailable extension the base station reboots, losing all calls.
        wmundy - Be sure you're using their latest firmware.
            gmaoret - I'd tried all the firmware version available. No one works.
    There is no way to download/backup/upload address book(s).
    Log doesn't show enough SIP information to be useful (reason for failed registration etc.)
    Log doesn't show DECT registrations. This makes adding other handsets difficult
    Log can't be reset and timestamps are numeric (unix timestamps?) rather than the more useful real world times (date/time)
    Firmware update takes forever and a day
    There is no way to disable the 'Missed calls' message.
    The handsets cannot be configured from the base station web interface (e.g. setting ring tones, PINs etc.) and have to be done manually
    1.07 - Miscellaneous freezes/hangs
    1.11 - When the IP address is set to 'Static', the home page of the base unit shows it's IP address as '0.0.0.0'.
    1.11 to 1.16 - MAJOR - Various reboots, lockups and resets causing disruption. The base unit has to be power-cycled to resolve these issues as it doesn't sort things out for itself.

    Resolved problems (A.K.A. make sure you're using the latest firmware!)
    .=================

    No easy way to see which UAs are registered and which aren't (other than trawling through the log (see above))
    There's a very big security hole (firmwares 1.01 and 1.07) : browsing http://snom_m3_base_IP_address/reboot.html will reboot the base immediately, even if you aren't logged in !! NOTE - tested with 1.07 and this is not the case. Even if it were, it would only be an opportunity for a DoS, not a security issue.
    1.07 - Just because a codec isn't on the list of acceptable codecs for a handset, it may still be used (fixed in 1.11)
    Weird delay issues with audio travelling from the handset (going to the handset seems to be absolutely OK) when NATted
    Address book is set up manually on each handset.
    No keypad lock (available in 2.x)"

    • That looks like a big list, but as you can see from the various updates most of the bugs have been resolved with firmware updates. We certainly haven't noticed any strange things (we put one on each desk when they came into stock here last year).

      • Yes.

        Do these come with latest 2.0x firmware, or need updating?

        How many remain to sell?

        • Mine is on 2.02. I don't remember updating the firmware - in short, I don't know.

          We have a couples of shelves full of them. They were not selling at $99.95 but we've had them for over a quarter now and they're being ditched (at a loss) in favour of Gigaset and i-Serv phones (however the cheapest Gigaset we will be selling is ~$150) that we're bringing back in to replace them.

        • GigaSets do fall-back to a landline & let you switch between VoIP & landline (I think); we use the 580IP in one application (but with no fall-back line).

          With possible need to upgrade, then -definite- need to program each handset's phone books manually, we'd buy 2 (1 to test extensively; 1 to show & offer around) for $120 incl S+H, and maybe come back to clean you out, if all goes well with them.

          (Let us know soon, though, we're also looking at a more interesting multimedia phone / Internet Radio (combo) at Skype.com's shop.)

          ===========

          No, we weren't expecting such an upgrade into such a phone (for that, we'd offer an S-E Xperia or its successor.

          (The Skype-shop phone is a desktop phone, with a WiFi option, big color screen, 2-way -free- video calls on Skype… plus Internet Radio, browser… for about $270 from memory.)

          ============

          Yes, the Fritz!Box cordless looks pretty close… You know the VoIP market!

          But it seems also to require use of Fritz!box modem/routers… we wouldn't buy anything that won't work with standard components… Their loss.

        • Since this model will not have any new software updates made (being that it is no longer manufactured), you will never have things like internet radio on it. If you require those kind of multimedia features and landline backup, you may do better with a Fritz!Box system.

          Unfortunately I can't go lower on the pricing. I've just counted up the units and there are 60 remaining. There will probably still be some left by the time you've had a chance to test them considering the fact we have next day delivery with express post.

  • And I just received mine last week after paying $ 99 for it!!! Life aint fair!

    • +1

      Normally, no it isn't. But send me an email to [email protected] and I'll refund the difference for you :)

    How come Scarface paid $99 for his? You were selling them off for $59 in a 'Clearance' sale more than 3 months ago.

    http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/1845694

    • Our last attempted 'clearance' of the Snom was on Ozbargain at $89 with free shipping we have never sold them this low before. They didn't all sell and the sale ended.

      Our regular price is $99. The RRP is over $100 more. Unfair neg!

  • Are these drop shipped or is there the option to pick up in Brisbane/Toowoomba?

    • These are shipped from our Toowoomba office. We do not allow pickups though, sorry.

      • ok thanks
