My iPhone 3GS is not turning on since this morning. I have tried the hard reset and some other ideas courtesy of google, but nothing works. Sigh :( I will have to take it to a professional now. Does anyone have any suggestions of the cheapest place I can get it fixed within Melbourne? It is out of warranty and I am waiting for the Galaxy S3 so I do not intend to buy a new phone now. Please help.
Cheapest place to get iPhone 3GS repaired in Melbourne

No, I have tried 2-3 chargers and the PC and laptop, but nothing happens at all. The screen doesn't respond and iTunes doesn't recognize the phone. Do you know what else might work?
Not a good sign sounds like either power connector, board or battery on phone gave out. Although even if battery was dead phone should turn on via power cable. Think might be a bigger problem sorry to say but i would seek professional opinion first, Sorry cant help further.
I thought so. Thanks for the information and help anyways. One more thing, any idea how much it would cost to get the board replaced?
Sorry for late reply but no. Apple products cost arm and leg to repair so put that money either on second hand iPhone 4 or use old phone til SG3 comes out.
This happened to my iphone a couple of months back and the geniuses at Apple just replaced the phone. Nothing they tried brought it back to life. (Mine did have extended warranty which helped very obviously-but I did expect them to keep it and try to fix it or something)
Apple will replace for free or alternatively make u pay $140 (apple staff decide which one on case-by-case basis), even if out of warranty.
They don't fix your phone, they give you a new one.
Make a genius bar appointment at your local Apple store and they will help you outSources:

Hi dylzy123, thanks for the advice. However, I went to the genius bar this Sunday and the guy said if I pay $179, they give me a new iPhone 3GS. Are you sure its $140? Can you get me a new 3GS for $140 (if you work as a genius at 1 of the apple stores in VIC)? Alternatively, can I get it replaced by a newer iPhone if I pay the out of warranty charges and any extra money it costs? Thanks. Please reply soon, life seems so hard without a smartphone.
Sorry Sydney here but just curious if you get any sign of life when plugged to USB on pc or Mac? Anything appear on screen? Does iTunes recognize the phone?
