Anyone who recently purchased a Sony A7 variant camera might be interested in this. They tend to hover around the $100 mark, so this is pretty good delivered for a genuine Sony battery.

Battery runs out quickly if you disable sleep timer, high refresh rate, resolution and brightness of the lcd and evf
mine is as out of the box in that area. haven't touched any settings related to power saving
although I notice that some lenses eat through the battery quicker, like 70-200. 35/2.8 and 16-35 last considerably longer on a single charge
Yup, I use the 200-600G. Heavy glasses. Takes a real toll on the battery
@Mortin: how do you find it? I am still deciding between it and 100-400
@shabaka: Depends on what you are after. For birds, it is great and the only other option is the 600GM. Sharp at the centre. And at 600mm, you need to master a lot of techniques before you can achieve decent photos. If you are not after birds, get the 100-400 GM.
@shabaka: the 200-600 is a BIG lens, be mindful of that. The 100-400 is comparatively small and much easier to carry about and travel with… if you very occasionally need a longer reach, add a 1.4x tc to the 100-400 BUT nothing makes up for 600 if you need 600. I have the 200-600 on my A7Riv witha gimbal on a tripod its great but when I travel it's a PITA. Unless you really need that extra reach get the 100-400 IMO
I agree, an a7iii user.
Just purchased one on the 31st for the same price combined with $25 birthday voucher + 7% Cashrewards. Came down to something around $52
7% cash rewards on ebay?
Had it priced matched to Sony au from previous digiditect deal
This is for A7iii and newer.
A7ii A7sii Rii and earlier camera uses the FW50Same applies to the a6XXX camera
Except the A6600
this battery last almost 2.5 longer than the old FW50
I find that I never run out of juice on my a7iii
even after a heavy day of shooting (90% photo, 10% video) I still got at least 25% of battery (provided that I fully charged it overnight)
I thought I would need an extra battery when I switched from Canon to Sony, but here I am, no extra battery and I am good.
