  • Unlimited international calls to where ?

  • International roaming used to be really important to me; thanks to Covid i haven't thought about it for so long! Hope you can use yours OP

  • I read on whirlpool that boost simcard can received sms and call while overseas, for free (wifi calling)

    • Correct. Telstra prepaid as well.

      • if using android what other setting i need to do, apart from keeping boost simcard on my phone and connect to my home wifi (at auckland) ? this is amazing

        • Not using Android atm, but I guess you need to turn on Wifi calling option in settings. Nothing else if it’s done already.

    • Boost website says international roaming is not available.

      • -2

Not really roaming per se, as you need to be connected to wifi.
The technology called telstra wifi calling

    • Boost website said it does not have international roaming currently. But I can still receive sms overseas?

      • i just found it recently but apparently its not a secret.
yes the key is : MUST BE CONNECTED TO WIFI
so you cant if you are out and about, but when you connected to wifi and enable wifi calling option in setting, you are basically same as standing in the middle of opera house in sydney.

        amazing, right ?

        • Absolutely! Didn’t know that

          • @Misty Echo: i really wish i can try myself. but obviously cant go out travelling yet now.
also does it mean i can make a call as well to australia ? or just receving.. i guess both but well sounds too good but true

            • @CyberMurning: I tried last year with telstra prepaid on an iphone 6s.
Wifi calling worked in China. Call & sms to and from Australia were working on WIFI.
Problem was stability. Call drop always occurred.

And wifi calling couldn't turn up on Google pixel. I could only use it on ios

When wifi calling was off, nothing else but receiving sms worked with cell signal.

            • @CyberMurning: @Sonic Image, @ChiMot
Is this specific to any country.

      • I'm overseas right now (have been for the past few years) and my Boost has always worked to receive SMS until today. I got an sms from boost on the 18th January 2022 that they'll be "updating you to our latest Boost Mobile Prepaid Plan" on the 25th Jan 2022… Now I can't even connect to the network here. I tried contacting Boost support and they were useless, didn't seem to understand the problem and were surprised it was working in the first place because "there's no international roaming"… Which yeh I was aware and was always the case for using data and making calls, but for simply connecting to a network overseas and receiving SMS, this always worked! I can't seem to be able to "enable wifi calling" option on the boost sim. I can do it on my local sim card but its as if its not possible on the boost one… not sure what to do…

        • were you able to get this sorted? Does wifi calling / SMS work on Boost Mobile now?

        • We're in the same boat. Any luck?

          • @tiara: nope, my boost SIM still doesn't work here in Europe :/

            • @Merlinux: @Merlinux, could I ask which phone/os you’re on? I’m also needing a prepaid which I can receive OTPs on while overseas and it’s disappointing that Boost still hasn’t launched its promised new roaming. I’m on iOS. My current prepaid plan with Boost runs out next month and I’m not sure what to move to … Amaysim? Does anyone here have any advice?
              Many thanks everyone.

      • So I've tried in Brazil and it didn't seem to work, I've just tried today in the US and got flooded by all the sms I had waiting so it definitely works here I've also updated my phone to Android 13 in between so maybe that made this trick work with Android.
