With the knife it has, is there a problem legally with leaving it in the car? They're so handy but I don't want trouble
IANAL, but I believe that technically all the items in your vehicle are considered to be in your possession, so you would be illegally carrying a knife without a lawful excuse. Then again, it's unlikely you would ever have your vehicle searched.
IANAL
TMI
Just grabbed one after ordering the other one from catch - will have to decide which one gets offloaded to the car.
Error
No you.
Thanks
What’s the difference between this and the Surge deal on Catch previously?
30000mah ROMOSS power bank $35 from amazon. If someone wants to post the deal i don't have time today.
I bought one.
Need my car washed today. If someone wants to wash it for me, go ahead. I simply don't have the time today.
Yes this analogy is spot on except for the fact that it isn't
Mixed in a slice of poetic licence.
But you had time to open this deal and add your comment?
Yeah that took 20 seconds.
And you still have time to be browsing ozbargain, see I replied to you, loaded the page with my reply, read my comment and reply to it.
I can see how you are so busy that you can't spare the 25 seconds to post a deal yourself.
@spaceflight: The deal has been left in a comment. Like every other deal left in a comment or forum post, if you believe it's worthy of its own post and doesn't already have one then feel free to create one.
No point trying to pick apart others priorities.
With the tools on the outside of the handle, does it hurt gripping the handles?
I’ve got a similar model, not at all. They tuck away neatly and the edges are rounded nicely.
it depends on how hard you are using the pliers.. but you will feel the metal edge etc.. since there is no plastic handle etc..
nope. i've cut some pretty thick wire with both my leatherman and sog pliers and it doesn't hurt. wrap a rag around the handle or just wear gloves if it gets too much for you.
What is the regular street price for this model?
Higher than the deal price
Camel says the average is $186 since Sep 2019.
Appears to be sold out though.
Ah thanks, so a good price but the actual cheapest shows as $112 last May
I found this price of the Australian Leatherman website $229 https://leatherman.com.au/products/super-tool-300-stainless
deal gone? can't add to cart
how does this compare to the cheaper ones on ebay?
ebay ones look like they could do the job just as well
https://www.ebay.com.au/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p233452…
If you're using it regularly, a leatherman is worth the price you pay just for the warranty (although their quality is damn good too).
If you didn't want to pay the leatherman price, a Gerber is probably ok, but I wouldn't go with a cheap ebay unknown.
"could do the job just as well"
What job could they do just as well?
whatever job you need each of those tools for
ie cut, saw, file, screwdriver, bottle opener etc…etc..
could they actually do those jobs just as well? could they do those jobs for as long? are they just as reliable?
I have a leatherman and a cheap one, the difference is huge and the cheap one cannot do the job just as well
I have several Leatherman tools, and a few cheap ones such as this $27 Roman https://www.catch.com.au/product/roman-10-in-1-multi-tool-66…
Big difference, the Roman is so hard to get the implements out. Was going to give it to the missus but she would bust nails just trying to open things. The steel on the Leatherman have resisted rust and wear better, hold an edge better. Tools all align up mm perfect.
Probably the closest to the 10 tool Roman which is 280g is the 14 tool Wingman 198g or the Rev which is 168g. So the cheap ones are either way heavier with less tools to achieve similar strength.
Then there's warranty, Leatherman probably has the best warranty of anything i own.
BTW probably my favourite kife from Leatherman is this little guy https://leatherman.com.au/collections/knives/products/skelet… it's on me everywhere i go, it's so light you dont know you are carrying it and i use it daily.
it's on me everywhere
I wish I could do the same. I don't want to risk the illegality here in Vic and I don't have a profession that can justify it.
It's illegal in NSW also without a reasonable excuse. I carry mine for the preparation of food, can't beat a freshly pealed Pink Lady when your on the go. :)
A person is not guilty of the offence if he or she is able to establish a ‘reasonable excuse’ for possessing the knife, for example:
*the lawful pursuit of the person’s occupation, education or training,
*the preparation or consumption of food or drink,
*participation in a lawful entertainment, recreation or sport,
*the exhibition of knives for retail or other trade purposes,
*an organised exhibition by knife collectors,
*the wearing of an official uniform, or
*genuine religious purposes.
much like people who look intelligent until they open up their mouth to say something.
you don't cheap out on tools unless you want frustration, or possibly an injury. especially things with sharp blades.
Yeah why all the new comments when this deal was dead half an hour ago
People are still allowed to talk about products in 2022 after deals have expired.
adds a newer comment to whinge about new comments
…right.
Got the rebar for $79 from fatch2 earlier this year. Pretty much a smaller version of this. Excellent tool
What’s fatch2?
catch, autocorrect…
I thought it might have been but searched for fatch2 thinking it might be a retailer I’ve never heard of, which is highly likely because I live under a rock.
Earlier this year? So yesterday?
Same price on Catch right now.

Love my Leathermans. I broke a tool recently because I was using it to do something it want meant to do. Sent it in to them and they sent me back a replacement.
Thanks, great to have in the glovebox of the car.
