Bunnings Warranty Process

I have a faulty Ozito electric lawnmower still under warranty that I will need to take back to Bunnings.

Is anybody familiar with their warranty returns process?

Do you think they will require that it be sent it away for repairs, or do they offer same product exchange off the shelf, or provide cash refund (best option)?

I have since purchased a superior and better quality petrol mower and will not be needing it any longer.

Thanks in advance.

They’ll need to know what the fault is before they determine whether it has to be sent in for repair or can be refunded or exchanged.

Usually it will be easier for them to just refund or exchange.

    • Best just to take it back with Original receipt

Staff have no idea how to evaluate a problem so they will just either exchange or refund.

But what does the Ozito warranty say?
At the end of the day OP is governed by what the warranty says.

      So there you go OP
      Go read your warranty mate,

They don’t normally repair things it’s just replacement

    • narh, they do repair a lot of power tools if possible.

it depends on the brand etc

Past experience is they will simply offer a replacement off the shelf

My experience with a return of an Ozito tool was being offered a refund or replacement. No difficulties with the process at all. I opted for replacement. Process took about 5 minutes.

Would’ve been easier if you returned the faulty one and paid extra for a better one from bunnings. Now you might end up with two mowers. On the bright side, mowing will take less time now if you just use them side by side.

Its usually brand specific at bunnings. For Ozito they replace or refund-whichever you prefer.
Generally only a few trade specific brand tools need to be sent back for assessment but most others can be sorted in store.
    Cheers!

I've always found Bunnings good. Just be honest with them, say you used this, it's a pos, you purchased a new one, and just want a refund, not replacement. Provided you have the receipt, they'll give you a refund.

      yep, same exp for me

    • How lenient are they with it being a "pos"? I have an electric Ozito mower which I've had for 4 months and use semi regularly now. It works but it struggles to the point where I'm planning to replace it with something else. My lawn isn't spongey in some parts and whenever it hits those parts the mower just dies. Would it not being powerful and "fit for purpose" be a sufficient reason for a refund? Would I need to return it in its original box?

      • Very lenient in my experience. I got a hand push reel mower, as I thought it would be a great idea. Turns out it is not at all a great idea, took it back after a while, bought a normal mower instead, no issues.

Bunnings has the best warranty / return process of any retailer ive ever been to

if they knock you back, you must be doing something dodgy

As long as you don’t buy ozito with Powerpass, they’ll say it’s not for trade use so warranty void… even if your not a tradie

    • Damn, I actually used Powerpass card for this transaction as there were other items on the receipt eligible for discount. If I knew that I would have split up the purchases. Do you think they will deny warranty? If so, it will be straight to consumer affairs.

  • Under consumer law you’re entitled to your choice of refund or repair.

      partially correct

"If you have a minor problem with a product or service, the business can choose to give you a free repair instead of a replacement or refund. You must accept this free repair if the business offers it to you"

I presume it was a major fault since he had to buy a new mower.

ozito are low tier grade products I would be surprised if its ever worth repairing them, straight to landfill

Top range DeWalt or Milwaukee might be worth repairing however

  • Anyone have experience claiming warranty without receipt?
I have Ozito circuit saw. It's only around 3 years and now when I use it the motor spins but blade doesn't. I can't find receipt…
    Thanks

They usually have the date of manufacture on the serial sticker. Assuming you didn't buy old stock, then you'll be able to show the manufacture date was less than 5 years ago and they can replace for you.

Ive returned plenty of things to Bunnings without a receipt

The oldest I have done was an ozito water transfer pump which wouldn't hold prime. My local store are very good and took it back no worries and replaced it with a new identical unit.

I have however tried to return items at other stores which arnt my local in brand new condition without a receipt and they have knocked me back for some reason (it was a special order stormwater pit which was to small), took it to my local, no worries at all.

I took a faulty Ryobi drill back there the other day, had it for 2 years, showed the guy in the tool area the fault and the original receipt. He agreed it was stuffed and refunded me the full amount as they didn't have a replacement due to it being discontinued. Was no problem at all.

If it's a major fault and in stock product, they might ask you to pick from the shelf and replace. Just say you need to choose a better product and give the refund as gift card. You can use gift card for anything

  • Anything Bunnings just take it back and let them sort it out, most likely they’ll give you a refund on the spot. If not it will get sorted. It’s a big reason people choose to buy at Bunnings.
