Where to Buy XL Face Masks in Melbourne

Happy new year!

I'm surprised I'm struggling to find this answer, given we've all had to wear these $%!* masks for so long, but I'm struggling to find a place where I can walk in to a physical store in Melbourne, and buy a mask for the hefty gentlemen among us, of which I am one. I also have a beard, which makes life hard. I've seen multiple online stores, but I have to wait weeks to find out the money I spent was wasted on a poor fitting/small mask. I'd rather walk into an actual store. I'm also aware that there are stores who sell them on the shelf, but I want a large mask, like larger than usual.

Help me OzBargain, you're my only hope.

You should shave beard. I'm sorry but the pro business Australian society means a reduction in clean ppm for many lifetimes in future which in turn will reduce your life quality.

For example, lets say we're all immune to covid tomorrow, the bushfire smoke requires N95 masks that also require no beards.

I'm also interested if anyone has N95 or higher mask for beards.

i just use the normal disposables with a full beard, no probs except they sometimes ride up when windy and beard reacts to wind

    • Yeah I tried them, I also wear glasses which is a problem. I just really hate them riding up

Get some custom ones sewn up that allow filters to be inserted.

I'm using a custom made one now, but she stopped making them. I've wasted like $100 on masks that I don't like online, ones that are meant to be XXL but are just normal size, it's such a gamble

I know someone who wears a mask and then a bandana over the top to keep the mask down and the beard covered.

As for the glasses, make sure you bend a little nose groove in the mask and you shouldn’t have any fogging problems.

I suggest checking with clothing alterations stores who should be able to make one up for you based on your requirements.

My other suggestion is to check on Etsy - there are many Aussie stores on there that sell face masks for men with beards Take note of the measurements of the mask to compare with the one you already have and read through the respective reviews to get a better idea as to whether the mask would be a comfortable fit. You can always message the store owner to request a custom design, if available.

    Good luck!

Just go to a independent arts and crafts "gifts" store and see if they know anyone that can sew some for you. Or try posting on facebook marketplace or the like.

    I also have a beard

Face masks don't work with beards.

You can buy beard masks on Etsy. They look cool too!

    • I want one just so people think I have a beard.

Does a beard come under skin condition? lol..
"Persons who have a physical or mental health condition, or disability, which makes wearing a face covering unsuitable, including persons with obstructed breathing, a serious skin condition of the face, an intellectual disability, a mental health condition or persons who have experienced trauma, are exempt from wearing a mask."
