False. Minoxidil and Finasteride are proven
Does minoxidil help hairline? I heard it’s more for the crown
Yep. Anywhere hair follicles can grow. Beard, chest
It works under certain conditions. For me it did work but stopped using it as I was getting unwanted hair on my body(face, neck, shoulders.)
As long as the hair follicle hasn't died out, it should work, that is slow down the hairloss, keep what you have and eventually make your hair thicker.
@Winston100s: Isnt this a topical cream? so applying this on the head increase hair to you back?
@Robbo14: Yes it penetrates deep into your skin and some of it can enter your bloodstream. The adverse effects are in the booklet of the product, it is not something uncommon.
I shaved off all my hair this year, so I'm saving money by not buying this. Am I OzBargaining correctly?
I stopped spending money on treatments after about a year, switched to a zero using a hair clipper, and eventually evolved to a razor shave. My only regret is not shaving my head instead of wasting time and money on rogain.
Wish i could go back in time and tell 20 year old me what you just said.
Shave your head, get fit, grow a beard, save money
Yeah, move from r/tressless to r/bald
Cope
Get fit?
Foam vs liquid pros and cons?
Liquid is itchy
Foam dries off quickly and less hassle to use.
Just be aware that key ingredient to Regaine, Minoxidil is extremely toxic to cats and could lead to some major issues for them if they come into contact with any amount of Minoxidil.
how about dogs?
contrary to the myths they are not necessarily toxic to and can get on quite well with cats
Don't know how you can say that when more than half of cats suffer some form of moderate or major illness when coming into contact with Minoxidil and 12% dying in the process.
@Phlume: He ment dogs. Way over your head lol
@Slippery Fish: Haha this one was also good.
@Slippery Fish: Haha yep, whooshed right over my dense head.
@Phlume: Walked into that one 🤣
Bald lives matter
based
it's not permenant solution for hair but using it for patchy beard is another story. It can solve the problem after 6-12 months of use. also best to get a doctor advice if you have blood pressure or any kind of heart problem before using.
Note: i haven't use it yet but made a lot of research about minoxidil.
There is a good side and a bad side to bald in Summer.
Good, your head doesn't get as hot when not covered in a mop.
Bad, your head gets sun burnt like some sort of super solar cell.
Been using Finasteride (Propecia) long-term for over 15 years after a hair transplant around frontal region when I was in my early twenties. Still have a full head of hair so can vouch for Finasteride for the rest of the sculp area. Just a quarter pill a day.
Never liked the Kirkland or Regaine liquids and foams, always struggled to style hair
If you don't mind me asking, where did you get your hair transplant and how much did it cost? I'm in my mid 20's now and I suspect my crown is thinning. Would you recommend getting it done early or when you have noticeable hair loss?
It is best get it done early so it is less noticeable in later years when you magically have more hair.
I got it done in Thailand, was about $3 - $5K, I cannot recall it was so long ago.
Perhaps before going the surgery route, you can go to your GP and get a script for Finasteride. Get the generic stuff from Chemist Warehouse, it is roughly $25 bucks for a 4 month supply. The frontal region and temples has little to no affect using Finasteride but crown shown work.
Do you have a link to this product? Thanks
@PlaneProof: You need to go ask for a script from your doctor. It's not over the counter.

@Lucille Bluth: Thanks for the link but from the link it shows for $20 you get 28 pieces of the pills. So I'm a bit confused. Unless of course you're taking quarters rather than the whole pill.
@PlaneProof: He's referring to the 5mg tablet (not the 1mg)
It's about $30 for the higher dosage tab
You cut that into quarters, so effectively a box of 30 lasts 120 days
@Funky-munky: Thanks, yes 5mg which is cut into quarters. I linked to the wrong one
do u have any side effect with finasteride?
Good question. When I first started, maybe ED for first few weeks only, but has not come back
I'm not balding as such but thinning. Im currently doing Platelet-Rich Plasma on my hair and have seen a noticeable fullness and strength come back. People close to me have asked if I got some hair transplant. Hurts like a hell though.
Finasteride affected my sexual drive, so I stopped taking it.
where can this be done?
I live in Darwin so I go to the Ageless Clinic.
I'm not too sure on other parts of the county. Search anti-aging clinics near you and see if they offer it as a treatment.
I went to the Chemist and asked if there were any alternatives to Minoxidil and Finasteride?
He just said to put two rabbits on my head, as from a distance they look like hares.
Cheaper on eBay on generic Minoxidil here: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/274529290522
The seller has the same item listed at 3 different price points.
You don't need hair to get girls
But but.. I definitely need confidence which my hair provides.
Just a quick note to anyone considering using this…
I was in a similar boat a while back, hair just starting to thin slight… started using this ad directed and suffered significant hair loss (which can be normal for the first few months). However it never really grew back, being worse than when I started. Stopped taking it and lost a lot more hair, it was a very stressful time period for me…
One day decided to shave, haven’t looked back. Most girls haven’t really mentioned it, the few who have asked thought it was just a choice/style thing.
So yeah, I would just be very careful about using this product, once you start you are committed and it can make things much worse (and is a pain if you ever go like camping/away with friends).
Thanks for sharing your experience.
Note that you have to keep using it, if you stop, your baldness will back to be happened. Once you are bald, save money on shampoo, bargain lol
Can I use this to help my gf's bush grow thicker?
Thanks in advance
will this lead to hairy nipple if applied to it?
True OzB, go natural. No rugs, no drugs, no plugs.
