Thinking to place a factory order for a Golf (just standard range)
Anyone has done so recently and managed to get any discount?

May be able to haggle for dealer number plate frames to be included
Damn it's really still that bad huh
Aufgrund der Auswirkungen von Covid auf die Lieferketten und natürlich der Chipknappheit gibt es keinen Rabatt auf Volkswagen-Fahrzeuge.
Not only VW
Du hast Recht.
@DashCam AKA Rolts: Te quiero puta
It'll be that bad for the next couple of years. Chip manufacturers have a lot of catching up to do, as do car manufacturers.
Try for free mats and a full tank of juice, you might get lucky.
I guess its been 4 hours since someone asked about discounts on cars that nobody can supply…
…a Peugeot, more appealing than a new golf? LOL
Ohh you've never encountered nubzy before
Viva le French cars
Open your mind and read the reviews..
Far better looking and far more luxurious interior and that's just the start. Good that Golf has finally moved to conventional automatic, but everything else about the new gen is a let down.
Free electronic gremlins or has that been sorted
@MS Paint: There is a good mix of German and Japanese parts in Peugeot's now. I haven't had any issues at all. Kia seems to be having a few issues these days :)
Might be nice out of the box, but I prioritise longevity/reliability and future value over some gimmicky interior features. Peugeots are basically sale proof in Australia unfortunately.
@vodamerc: The more recent ones starting with T9 308 are actually pretty good, the 3008/5008 in particular is selling very well on the used market. If you want long term reliability get the diesel engine. 1.6 petrol is not bad though these days, but if you want it to last you should halve the service intervals and make sure you use only PSA spec oil. Parts prices are cheaper than VW and i'd rather a Peugeot with Aisin transmission than a Golf with DSG. You should look into the testing that the T9 308 underwent in its development process, they are good solid cars these days. Problems occur due to owner neglect and using the wrong oil, just like with all cars. The future is electric and Peugeot has an edge on design + brand cache that they can capitalise on. Will take a while but they have a very strong future, it is the importer (Inchcape) which is holding them back in this market.
@nubzy: I think long term no one wants a 5yr old French car
VWs are still viable sort of up until a decade?
I got 20% off a new golf. Walked into the dealership, told them what options I wanted, and that I wouldn't be making a deal that was less than 20% off. I was taken in to see the business manager, he told me that I drove a hard bargain, but he didn't want me to walk out, as they are having trouble selling cars at the moment. 20% off, right there on the spot, as well as free mats and a full tank. You just have to dazzle them with confidence.
Was this a recent experience? Even during the worst of times this seems like a very high discount.
as they are having trouble selling cars at the moment
At the moment they are having trouble getting cars - https://www.volkswagen.com.au/en/vehicle-delivery-delays.htm…
"having trouble selling cars at the moment"
Haha, I mean I guess if you're happy he's happy.
Calling BS on this
BS?
Brilliant Sarcasm?
And then everyone in the dealership cheered when I walked out #thathappened
They actually gathered all the people in the street to line the driveway of the dealership to cheer and pop the little streamer popper things as I drove out.
Whoops.!!
Forgot the /S tag.
Discount? Right.
managed to get any discount?
I only got 23% off my order. Was hoping for 30%
The biggest thing getting people over the line these days is "free mats and a tank of fuel". YMMV
I got 33% off and ended up with a VV
Free mats? I mentioned this to the car salesman whilst shopping for a Euro car. He giggled and said all their cars come with floor mats as standard, as the factory wouldnt supply the car naked like this.
Ordered a caddy mid 2021. Asked about wiggle room in the pricing. Guy advised that they normally sold 31 cars a month. Currently 2 (due to supply issues). So no…
I bought new Mustang convertible 5 years ago.
On car sales a local dealer advertising identical car to mine $10 k above what I paid in 2017.It’s forever car, so no jumping for joy as I wanna pair it with a coupe as well - hardly augurs well for pricing on the hardtop.
Good luck getting a discount
I ordered a Ute and have to wait until July 2022, got free plastics, mats, tow tongue kit, full tank…. But I did spend extra 3k on factory options
Use a buyer service, almost the only way to get a decent discount these days, as they obtain fleet pricing.
A car broker might help.
Not best time to buy new cars.
Ask for more accessories.
We recently order a new car. Got a small cash discount on the price but also got a lot more accessories.
If we weren't picking on colour we could have got a bigger discount on the price because they did have stock were the finance approval for the new owner was cancel but the stock was already on its way. This can happen due to the long wait times for stock.
You'd be lucking to get a new car in the next 9-12 months, so discount highly unlikely. Maybe you may need to pay more.
Those who said no discount/pay more than driveaway, you're wrong. Got pretty good discount.
Love this, please share your discount with the rest of the class.
Can you pls elaborate?
