Summary: $15 Nitto™ compatible air tool socket mis-packaged in $6 adapter box
So, I was in Bunnings @ Bankstown airport,
looking at air fittings, and noticed these plastic ones cheap.
Then I looked closer, and the box said "Steel"
Huh?
Checked the code on the box, and the description on the shelf/hanger.
Then grabbed the two that were there, asked the guy behind the counter to check the price, and purchased.
What I think has happened is the distributor has packaged these:

in the packets of these:

1) Even though plastic might be less durable than brass/steel,
it is a lot lighter on the end of an air hose,
which will stress the hose/clamp less. That is why I want to try them.
2) Haven't tried them to repair an air line yet, but they seem easy to use one-handed.
(i.e. if you air line is on the floor, put your foot on the hose,
and shove the tool's pointy bit in until it clicks & locks.)
These have a good smooth action.
3) Not sure if they are on the shelf in any other Bunnings.
You will have to check yourself. YMMV
