Franchises That Sell Spicy Chicken

The post about fast food triggered me a little šŸ˜
We occasionally feel the need for some spicy chicken.
KFC Hot and Spicy was good for the odd feeding frenzy, but the recipes seem to be bland-ed down too much.
Tried the Maccas things and they were bland, dry, overpriced and under spiced.

What franchise does a good hot and spicy chicken?

The criteria is: The next day when things are ā€˜leavingā€™ you think - ā€˜Iā€™m sure I didnā€™t eat the bonesā€¦..ā€™.

Have added a poll, but nothing in it yet as I truly have no options.
Adelaide based, but in the wild hope that travel in this wide, brown land may one day return, any place is of interestā€¦

  • Go to non-American places. Do they need to be franchises? Korean restaurants tend to be most likely to have spicy fried chicken.

  • A decent spicy chicken that burns on the way in and the way out is a figment of a franchise's imagination.

The best around here is Nandos with a decent glug of their extra hot Peri Peri sauce, not the weak Peri Peri sauce sold in colesworth but the one direct from Nandos, it's a lot stronger.

    • I bought a bottle from Nandoā€™s and it still doesnā€™t seem like the ones they use in the stores.

Nando's, Nene Chicken (korean), Gami Chicken (korean), can't remember anymore off the top of my head.

    make your own.

    • We can do this, but that defeats the idea of a quick hit of takeaway indulgenceā€¦

ummmm so you want chicken that is so spiced up it shreds your anus on the way out !! wtf

    • Spicy foods are pain foods. We're actually meant to avoid eating spicy foods!

      Yes! Yes!
And I do have a bidet seat that needs to earn its keepā€¦.

  • Yum drool at K.ids F.at C.lub chicken. Comment above about Korean fried chicken is spot on

    1 kg of šŸ„ wings + flour + grounded chilli + mix seasoning + air fryer + 20 min.

  • My favourite hot wings spot closed down a couple of years ago. Memphis BBQ Pit had the hottest hot wings I've had anywhere. Far hotter than any Korean place. Sadly, I've not found a replacement. :(

  • There is a Taiwanese Chain in Sydney I think that does it.

    1. Buy frozen buffalo wings that oven bake in 25 mins
    2. Set oven on a timer for 12 minutes
    3. Obtain additional hot sauces. Melt a table spoon of butter and then pour hot sauce into a bowl.
    4. Mix well.
    5. Take wings out of oven at 12 minute mark and cover liberally in your hot sauce / butter mix.
    6. Return to oven for 13 minutes with fan on.
    7. Enjoy.

As to what hot sauce to use, things that are readily available are things like Arizona Gunslinger, or you can order more exotic (and spicy hot sauces) from online stores and local speciality chilli shops. The extra hot Sambal sauce you can get from Foodland / IGA is a good starter on Korean fried chicken as well.

Alternatively, you can make your own hot sauce very easily using things like crushed chillies, olive oil, garlic, onion, vinegars, pepper and turmeric.

    Have fun and experiment.

The world of "spice" is nothing compared to bulk prepared meals like those you've described. Like everything, it is far better done yourself.
