I have one. It's quite noisy for a 5400. Anyone else have the same issue?

  • "keeps" better than what?

    • The price
My previous post was for this item available for $190

      • ok that makes perfect sense

    • I paid 210 about 5 months ago

  • SMR?

  • No good for NAS?

    • Not really ideal. Saying that I'm using some. But it'll depend on how your NAS is setup and how you'll be using it.

    • Yes and no.

Ultimately might be better than nothing or if on an extreme budget.

  • could I theoretically plug this into a projector with a USB and playback 4k? atm got a 240gb ssd in a orico case but I really want something with a bit more storage so I could have a library at the ready, TIA

Yes with an appropriate SATA to USB adapter cable and power supply or just a 3.5" enclosure similar to your Orico.

    • You need a specific powered enclosure like this https://www.scorptec.com.au/product/hard-drives-&-ssds/enclo… - bit pricey. I’d recommended however probably just getting another ssd, or a laptop hdd and stick it in a orico case. I ran a full sized hdd in the above enclosure for over 24 hours straight heavily torrenting and it eventually turned off as the hdd overheated. So…I’d advise against heavy usage due to the thermals

  • The main seller selected by Amazon seems to be changing between Computer Alliance and Harris Technology.

Might be worth pointing the URL directly to CA?

  • What's the best (single drive) case to out this in for traveling?

    • 8TB for travelling?

      • Why not? I'd like to be able to carry all the movies, games etc that I might want to crank while traveling interstate and still have room to copy stuff from the friends I'm staying with. Besides, that's a cheap price.

Had a bad experience with the cheap enclosure, it actually corrupted the data and had to recover through a painful journey.
Would recommend to go for the quality one.

  • Is this any good for playing Steam games from? or too slow?
