Straight from the top end. These rough and tumble guys have no interest in appearances. Their skin is scratched and scuffed from the tree they grew in. but you can bet they are super sweet on the inside. Best eaten in the sun!

Sure.. Wouldn't eat fish p 2 weeks past the 'Best by' date, but probably if only a few days out.
@FredAstair: What I meant is: if a product is produced on t with expiry t+x and someone posts a deal on t+8 days, then the expiry date is shortened by 8 days, etc. It was on special at least 8 days before post.
be interesting if the salmon was frozen and thawed or never frozen …. i find that frozen and then thawed smoked salmon has too soft a texture vs never frozen.
Bought smoked salmon from Aldi today $14.99 for 500g. Regular price. Imported from Norway.
Works out slightly dearer ($20.99 for 700g), but easier than placing min order with HF + delivery cost or long trip to store. Have bought it from HF before.
Aldi smoked salmon is not tasty at all. The one from HF is yummy. It has been on special for over two weeks now.
Anything outside Australia is high in Mercury
australian waters might be clean, but the the fish meal they feed the salmon might not be ….. and all farmed fish has the challenge that you need to feed salmon other fish protein ….doubt farmed salmon are vegan and fed a diet of vegetables …..some years ago there was an outbreak of a herpes strain that came in with fish from sth america used for fish meal to feed salmon ……. it’s not as clean and green a process as people might think to farm salmon …. it’s not easy to feed the billions of people on earth ….

Tasmanian based Mathew Evans TV series "What's the Catch?" exposed fish meal production overseas. The high amount of fish caught to produce fish meal, to produce a lesser amount of salmon is very concerning.
Wasn't there also some controversy surrounding Tasmanian salmon?

I found these a good cheaper alternative to the usual smoked salmon.
